Hi all-figured I'd pop in since I'll (hopefully) be needing some ideas for a shop in the near future. I live in Western NC and have been looking at houses for a short while now. This was one of the properties I looked at:
Wrestled with this night and day for a couple weeks. The photos don't really show it, but the house is just too weird. No flow, terrible layout, questionable carpentry, on and on and on. Shame though-would've loved to have had that shop.

Unfortunately, I don't have the budget to tear down the house and build anew. Not buying this will probably haunt me for years.
We wound up (just got the offer accepted today, hooray!) a little closer into town in a house that makes a lot more sense. It was built in '76, but has been really nicely updated. The basement is completely open (save for the stairs and supports for the house above) and is roughly 30w x 50l. Should give me plenty of room to do what I need to do.
Snagged the property for 102k. Screaming deal. It is a first house, and I wasn't planning on buying, but a 0 down payment, 3.375% fixed 30 year USDA loan made me reconsider. Huzzah!

Anyway, just figured I'd say hey. Name's Jared, I do stuff to weird old Volvos. See y'all around!

Looks like a real nice piece of property with lots of potential.
