For whatever reason Husky is unloading their pro line. If i didnt have a set of snap on comfort grip ratchets i'd pick it up for.

Saw one at a HD in San Jose today. Marked down to $23.**, just a few cents off of full price.

Why even bother putting it in the clearance section? Just on the off chance that someone will think that a $23 ratchet is a great deal? Pretty much everyone that will pay $10+ for a single ratchet market knows a bit about tools and prices.

Still full price at my store. I want to grab a set so bad. Guarantee they'll go on sale and be gone before I even know about it.

Frankly, I'd rather get one of the new "pro" line HF ones. Check those out if you haven't. My HD balked and made me go through hoops trying to replace on warranty just a failed Husky "lifetime warranty" utility knife that fell apart on me. For the china tools, I'd rather have HF frankly, where it is easy to get a replacement. HF treats me right. I buy from HD too, but not for the similar stuff I can get elsewhere for same price or less. Mine also very rarely offers any good clearance prices, like $0.25 cents off is about it. - Paul

He pictured the roto ratchet. That's been at a "New Lower Price" of $15 for quite sometime. This is just HD now admitting that they're clearancing them, and dropping the price another $3.

Yeah, whats crazy is the 1/4 inch is still 20$, which is what i really wanted. Explain the logic behind that...

Just checked again, all the Home Depots in my region (Eastern WA to Missoula, MT) are still currently $25 for 1/4" or 3/8".

HF has 1/4 for 11.99 on sale. use a 20% coupon and save. husky is getting rid of it so when it breaks, youll be back at harbor freight buying a replacement anyway.

I think these (the specialty ratchets) are all taiwan. Could be wrong. So...same as hf line (pretty much). I hate saying it but it's probably true. Haven't seen a roto made in china yet; I'm sure it's coming.

Why do people keep saying this? The HF's have a quick release and noticeably different ratchet action than the Huskys which are Gearwrench.. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge GW fan like most of the board (I don't understand why GW products seem to get a free pass here), I'm merely saying the two roto ratchets are quite different.

A bit off topic, but i just yesterday i had a chance to use HF pro 3/8 ratchet and was blown away how smooth the action was compared to Husky i tried at the store. The "clicks" were so rough and felt forced every step. HF pro was smooth, muffled and just so refined. In fact, close to my 80 tooth snap on. No snapon ofcourse:)

i'll be picking up a quarter from HF. Husky lost this one.

Is there a 1/4" Pro composite out from HF yet?

Agreed I have the 3/8" composite & it's nice, but a bit sloppy axially (not rotationally). However the roto head ratchets are a very different animal and nowhere near as smooth.

Good point, i never thought of the difference between roto and standard. Picked up hf 1/4 for 14 after coupon, 19 full price i think. not liking the selector but only time will tell.

Would be under 10 bucks with coupon. I think you paid to much for the 1/4. Your store might not have hd the sale (online) price

Damn, was hoping for a 1/4" drive.

I actually just had a Kobalt (Taiwan) 3/8" Roto ratchet arrive from Cripe for $16. 72 teeth, very little back drag, and don't need to hold the drive end when changing directions. A little loud (going to soak in ATF), but a great feeling ratchet.

Here's the comfort grip on Cripe:

Here's the one at Lowes:

Nice thing I've learned is Lowes will still warranty old makes with the new stuff, so I know I'm good as long as they stock some sort of Roto ratchet.

The grip is a little fat, but comfortable. If I decide I don't like it, I'll find another comfort grip to throw on it.

I like kobalt stuff in general, especially their torque wrench line up(newer stuff). But i am one of those odd people who place a big part of aesthetics, HF sold me due to comfort grip handle very similar to snap on>not bc its snap on but because i think its a very well designed handle thats easy on the eyes.

And no i will not buy a KIa just because it looks cool :)

Not to argue of functionality of Kobalt's ratchet, to me its too plain looking to add to the collection. However as i've learned from experience sometimes you have to drive it to get it.

Sir, if you could hook me up i'd owe you! I've not had any luck yet.
