Ingersoll Rand just announced another new pneumatic impact...the 2135QXPA

Same power as the 2135TiMAX....less weight....and a lot quieter.

Looks like it is a lighter & more powerful version of the 2135QTiMAX

With the 2235 out it would be hard to buy a new 2135.

Well....maybe, maybe not....

I dont know the exact specs yet (Hopefully Marlin can let us know), but I would think the tossup is this:

2235 - More powerful, More CFM needed, Heavier, Louder

2135QXPA - As powerful as a 2135, Less(?) CFM needed, Lighter, Quieter

Then there is the cost factor....we will see....

I would go for the new 2135 if it was quiet and lighter over the 2235 myself. I think the 2135 was plenty strong for a 1/2". If I need more power I just grab the 2145.

Don't get me wrong it sounds like a fantastic air tool but until my old one dies several generations will have come and gone so the next best model will be the _________ IR Model.

Still I enjoy seeing and reading about all the new models out there so keep us posted!

Very interesting. I thought my old 2135qtimax was pretty light already. Wonder what they did to lower the weight?

This tool has the same performance as the 2135QTiMAX, it differs in that it has an aluminum front end instead of the titanium, which will give a slight weight advantage and a lower price.

Isn't that typically considered a bad thing? (Al vs titanium?)

Depends on how often you shotput your impact. Impact housings/components have been made out of aluminum for a long long time without many issues.

Titanium is stonger than aluminum but aluminum has been used for many years as hammer cases for impacts. With the new 2235 being introduced and taking the top spot in the line up, it made sense to make the 2135 more affordable, for those that can't afford the 2235.

Waiting patiently Lithium-Aluminum hammer case :D

Any idea on how much more 'affordable' this gun is compared to the 2135Qtimax?

I'm not sure yet what the street price will end up being. The retail price should be released soon.

Does this mean the end of the titanium 2135?

Also is the only difference between the standard 2135 and the quiet one is the little foam muffler at the end if the handle exhaust?

Yes, if you want titanium then the 2235TiMAX will give titanium and the highest perfomance of any 1/2" impact out there. If you are happy with the current performance of the 2135 then it will be available at a lower cost but will not have a Ti front end.

The Quiet technology consists of 4 additional parts, the foam piece that is visible is only one of them.

Yes, from what I understand this Matco and Cornwell IRC8000 are rebranded IR 2135. I have Cornwell that has aluminum and composite housing, internals are exactly the same as 2135. Cornwell site actually says Ingersoll Rand for IRC-8000 manufactorer.

No, it's not the same gun as the MT2769, not even the same maufacturer. From what Marlin said though,it's just a Cornwell IR-C8000 in different colors and with baffeling to make it quiet like the QTImax.
