I bought both the 1/4 & 3/8 sets and -- all things considered -- they seem well worth the $15 / $20 price.
Both sets included a wobble extension instead of the standard extension pictured on the packaging.
I personally find the size markings to be hard to read. Each size is engraved or stamped inside a hex shaped border. I guess the idea of the border is to draw your attention to the size marking but I'd prefer if they just made the size larger.
As others have noted the COO is Taiwan, the 3/8 set is all 12 point sockets while the 1/4 set is all 6 point sockets. The ratchets aren't fine tooth, the previously noted 44 tooth seems about right.
The packaging is worthless for storing the tools after you remove the retaining straps and ties. I toyed with the idea of glueing rare earth magnets to the plastic packaging to retain the sockets but in the end just put them on HF socket rails.
I looked at the GW reversible ratcheting combo wrenches they have 50% off. Those sets were all made in China. They seemed 'chunkier' than my older Taiwan-made set, with extra metal around the closed end which might make it difficult to get into tight spots. I didn't compare them side-by-side with non-Chinese wrenches so can't say for sure how different the wrenches are.
With regard to discount coupons, I've never been able to pull off the shop towel trick, I'd love to know how anyone makes that work. When I bought the sockets, I added them to an order that included an EGR valve and vacuum regulator. The coupon code gave me a discount on the parts but not on the tools.
