Wright Warranty Experience - Fantastic

Few days ago I purchased a Wright 354 3/8s Metric 14 pc socket set through Amazon. Upon getting them, I was looking through the set, and noticed the 18mm had a small area of missing chrome and poorly adhered chrome. I was a bit irked by this because its the most expensive socket set I've yet to purchase (previously Gearwrench and USA craftsman), and having several Wright ratchets, and a few of their wrenches, know their chrome quality is usually top notch.

I phoned up Wright today, spoke to a customer service rep who apologised, took down my address, and told me a new one would be in the mail.

This was exactly the reason I'd gone with Wright, after reading so many favourable mentions when needing to warranty anything. It was quick, painless, and Wright will definitely be getting more purchases from me. Just want to share that experience!

+1 they don't know me from anyone and it was one of the first wright pieces i had bought (3430 ratchet). its a 3/8 drive on a 1/4 drive ratchet mechanicals - not intended for 'normal' 3/8 use. i stripped it out, called them and explained, nice lady had a kit for it at my house inside of a week. could easily have just said i abused it, but a great experience as a new customer.

now i've got quite a few of their tools :) truck quality, no truck attitude, waaaaay cheaper. had never even heard of them before being on GJ.

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize the Wright made a compact 3/8 ratchet. I've been looking to get one, now I think I'll go with the Wright.

I have to say the customer service from Wright is probably the best I have ever experienced. I was e-mailing a customer service rep named Sue about a nitrile grip for my 3400 ratchet, as mine fell off and I lost it. She said no problem and is sending me out a new grip.

Do they send out renewal kits the same way as SK?
Rebuild kits are a consumable item. If you blow it out is one thing. If it gets sloppy after 20 years is another.
That said I've had kits sent with no issue. Others have said they got the consumable story. Have the ratchet in front of you. They might ask for a date code. My last rebuild was a 4400 from around 1962 ? It was a bear to reverse. She sent me out a killer new dual pawl kit. No charge. Your mileage may vary. If you manage to blow up a Wright action I'll be nice to you. Either your a crazy man with a sledgehammer or Hercules. Ditto for old SK. Those are the toughest actions ever made. Stronger than Proto pears.
Leave the Snap-On toys on the pillow beside Fufi the Pomeranian.

Am I the only one who sees 2 unrelated pictures, of a center counsel and then a backyard?

Yes, this thread is from 2014. I removed the photos long ago, and I guess the server has allocated those addresses to new pictures hosted by someone else.

I think that's why some members suggest not to revive and bump the old threads :D
But I like to consolidate the discussion under one roof. I shouldn't have to open up seven threads, lol.

Really want to go forward with at least one Wright Ratchet for a start, either 1/2" drive or 3/8" drive, dual pawl mechanism.

Give it a shot. They're not bad ratchets. The backdrag is a bit higher than my pear heads. Also much harder to switch with 1 hand. I've got some brand new ones, and some used ones. All the uses ones, despite being in very good shape when purchases, definitely seem to have more backdrag than the brand new models, even after being cleaned up, lubed etc. Round heads are a little thicker too. All that being said, they're nice ratchets at good price points too.

I have done business with Wright since the 70s, both as a retailer and now as a customer.
In all of those years, I can't say a bad word about either their products or the people working at Wright
