Does anyone know where to get some Old Style Metal Socket Trays? I'm talking about the kind where it is a metal box without a top and a handle that keeps the sockets in but can also swing over to the side to allow you to get at the sockets.

occasionally i find them at the flea mkt, or in the $1 bins at a pawn shop.

"back in the day" nearly every set of sockets i bought came with metal trays.
those that didnt, i bought extras from snapon.

Mac used to sell quite a few. You might check Ebay.

I am with you on the metal socket boxes. I really like how Koken does theirs in the 1/2" stuff. Proto older stuff too.

Good luck!

So many questions after reading his posts. Why was he banned? Why did he refer to himself in that manner. Weird.

Elroy is a character that Elroy created for the internet. Elroy posts the same way on other forums that Elroy is a member of. It amuses Elroy to always refer to Elroy as Elroy.

I have no idea why Elroy was banned.

There are many of the old style metal socket trays on Ebay, usually for a reasonable price. Mac still sells just the trays too, but I have no idea on cost. Cornwell and Mac sockets, and as another poster states Wright, still use the metal socket trays.

I love Elroys custom trays. I've been buying these trays for months now here and there. The best way I found to get them are from Cornwell. They are anywhere from $8 - $13 new. I have the part numbers for all of them so if there's any specific one you are looking for I can help you figure out what you need. Just need to know how many sockets and what drive. And they are very nice quality. I love the 3/8" holders because the sockets wont fall out as long as you have the bar over the top. The 1/4" ones fall out though. There part numbers all start with ST then a number. Here's the link. http://www.cornwelltools.com/webcat...-Storage/Tool-Organizers&page=3&sort=featured
