Neighbor busted a 9/16 pittsburgh combo and since i am driving right past HF today told him I would swap it. If i am remembering correctly, HF doesnt have single wrenches. Do I need to take the whole set or do they just crack open a set and swap out the busted one?

I think they will open a new set, give you the replacement,

then put the open set on the "Sale" rack. That is the only

thing I can think of to why there are "broken" sets there.

I did notice a while back, that HF was putting single sockets

on an Open Stock section, just like C'man, but that seems to

have been done away with. Maybe it is cheaper and easier

to just break new packages.

You must be pretty close with your neighbors. Can't say I've ever sat out and discussed broken tools with mine.

I think it's pretty cool that you'll exchange that for a neighbor.

A few of them are cool, most of them i wouldnt piss on their face even if their teeth were on fire. When it comes to tools this guy means well but he honestly thought you needed to put in a whole new front door to add a peephole.

I have broken three of their wrenches before. Once they changed out the whole set and the other times they replaced the wrenches. The last time the original set I bought was no longer available and they replaced it with a better wrench.

Ok, just as an update. They were going to pop open a set and give me the 9/16 out of it, but then when my OCD kicked in and mentioned it wouldnt match the guy swapped the whole set.
