Hi guys,
I thought I would show you some pics of my recently completed garage over here in the UK.

The build started way back in November of 2006 and i'm only now getting around to the finishing touches.

I had to dismantle an old shed to make way for the garage.

It's not too bad actually to get in and out of. A lot easier than I thought it would be.

As for the car it's a 1989 Series 2 Ford ****** RS Turbo. Soon to undergo a mini restoration for concours next year.

Here it is out in the sunshine.

Stunning, love the brick! The interior looks like an operating room, I bet it's a joy to spend time in.
What is it with Brits and brick? I think it's an innate ability. My dad was from the UK and worked professionally as a physicist, but could do some awesome brickwork. As can all of my cousins....
Sadly the gene apparently skipped me :).

Clean build. Appears well thought out and functional too.

BTW - Nice RS, I have a soft spot for rally cars.

Great work on the garage (especially the brick work) ! I really enjoy looking at the various cars that people can get outside of the US, that's a neat RS ******.

Great looking garage. Brits do a great job with brickwork. What kind of permits do you guys have over there? I'll bet you have to jump thru all types of hoops to build something like that?

Great looking garage. One question....how is the header above the garage door supported or is is just brick alone going across the top?

Thanks for the kind words.
The permits aren't too bad actually. You have to apply to the Local Authority for formal planning permission and the Building Control Department also have to give their permission.
The Building Inspector then makes periodic visits to ensure everything is to code before 'signing-off' the completed project.

Nice use of your limited space.
The brick work is amazing. You just don't see that type of brick done state side anymore. It is either a wood frame build with a brick venier or its cinder block with a brick venier.

I would'nt want to be a vinyl siding salesman in the UK. Great looking tile on the roof.

"It is a bit strange.
They drive an Audi TT and it's a little bit tight to get it in and out of the garage."

WOW! I'd assumed they'd not be bothering trying to put a car in it!

I still have the ceiling and the floor to sort, but that will have to wait until the car goes off to the body shop for some work.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Very nice. I was just curious, what kind of permits or bureaucracy do you have to go thru to build a small garage on your property in the UK?

You have to submit detailed plans in order to obtain planning permission from the local council.
Another body called Building Regualtions are also involved. They make regular site visits throughout the building process to ensure that everything is being done to 'code'.

Nice little project. Were you able to recycle the old shed walls or "barn" door in some manner or were they too far gone? Sometimes folks like to use the old wood with a nice vintage patina for interior spaces.

Thisone is a beaut! Shows us NA's why so many intricate things come from Europe -you have to do the same things in smaller spaces!
The little fridge is my favourite piece I think ~ next to that welder! Just make sure you aren't using them at the same time too often!

Thanks for the kind words guys:thumbup:

E-tek, the welder is a recent purchase from a work colleague. It needs a bit of a tlc cosmetically but it works just fine. Oh, and I only paid £40(about $80 ish) for it.
Bargain:thumbup:
