garden hose nozzles...

If I added up the $ I have invested in replacing these over the years.... it'd be more than I'd care to know!

I'm looking for a durable one, with seals that can be economically replaced. Any suggestions?

The Adams firehouse nozzle only makes any kind of sense when you are at the point you are at. I went thru many each summer until I invested in these. Just the best. Aluminum with a rubber bumper.

I have 1 of those too for at least 5 years.
I would recommend it also.
Although sometimes I get confused for a moment on which way it was turned off last.

I thought I was the only one with this dilemma. My wife despises every spring, when I bring the hose-reel back outside. She knows I'm going to start cussing every time I use the water hose.

I suppose I'm also not the only one that gets pissed at changing the hose reel out every other year. Apparently $80 is nowhere near enough money to spend on a decent yard hose reel.

As for the firehose type nozzles... I just don't care for them. I like the trigger-style, multi-selection type nozzles. Anyone refer me to a good one?

I like the 20 year old nelson brass nozzles. Try to find them at garage sales but are tuff to come by. The current nelson brass nozzle port is so small i could pee more volume than it can put out.

With a brass hose end use a brass nozzle. Alum or zinc/pot metal hose end will ruin a good brass nozzle.

The firehouse type work fine but need a lot of water supply.

The Nelson trigger-type work and last if they are brass, so long as water does not freeze inside. That destroys them. Same with Gardena plastic ones.

The straight brass type seem to work forever.

Very true. They disassemble for cleaning and I think there is one replaceable O-ring inside.

This is the best nozzle I ever bought. Cheap ($5-$10). Durable. WORKS WELL !! Sadly, discontinued.

I can tell you which one I would NOT recommend...

I thought this nozzle would be great, it's the one on the left, not sure the brand but it is Made In USA. Major design flaw though - it has two o-ring seals, and I cannot get the one closest to the tip to stay on. You can see where the o-ring is missing out of its groove, just above the hole at the tip of the nozzle As soon as I turn the nozzle on, it blows out the o-ring immediately.

The one one the right is a Chinese-made Nelson, but it only has one o-ring seal and actually seals fine. Both are brass.

Lost that one for a while and saw that this one was only $6 on amazon. It's all metal so it won't break the first time you use it like the plastic ones of the same style. I actually prefer it for washing my car over the nicer bonaire one.

But I have to admit, if it says "made in usa", I am ALL in! I stumbled into these on this forum, in the "made in usa" section. In stock at the local orange box store, so I ordered it online and I'll grab it on Friday.

I prefer these ^^^ I've been using the same one going on 4 years now. Bought it at Ace hardware. The one I had before that was at least 4-5 years old and the only reason I got a new one is because I lost it lol.

I bought one of the USA made nozzles like the one you bought about a year ago and it works very well. Not only tolerates well AZ mineral ridden water, but it also provides a great jet stream with minimum water usage.

Sturdy and gets the job done.

I like to detail my cars myself, so I have one of everything! But, here recently, I have taken the plunge and bought the Adams firehouse nozzle and I love it! It has a lot of power compared to similar models.

But I also use one of these on the end of a garden watering wand to get that sheeting effect.

I had opportunity to test my purchase today, washed two vehicles... Before installing it, I sprayed the ball bearings and thread with silicon.

Works good, although after a couple drags across the concrete... it isn't as pretty.

The package instructions state that when its not in use, remove it - open it all the way and store it. Most of my nozzles would probably last much longer if I did that... but it wouldn't be very convenient would it?

I pulled it off today, figuring this break in the weather isn't going to last anyway. I may just buy that metal pistol grip that was suggested yet...
