Dissapointing shipping from Sears.

I received some Craftsman sockets yesterday.

Here is what they should have looked like:

Here is how they arrived.

The box obviously split open in transit, and the sockets were all loose. Somehow, the bag contained all of them.

It's 9 items weighing 5 lbs, and the box is just tossed into a bag? It's a good thing I wasn't intending to give these as a gift because the box is completely mangled.

I don't really care, they went directly into my toolbox... it's just a great window into what goes on at their warehouse.

You should never be disappointed in Sears, because you should never have any expectations. :lol_hitti

Sears is like a crapshoot, you never know what you will get, could be good, could be bad. Fortunately for me, I have not had issues with packaging, most of the time they send me a huge box with one little thing in it. $10 item with $40 in packaging...

Sears literally has the worst shipping people on earth. If you gave them a block of wood they would somehow screw that up and the bag would get torn open during shipping...

I don't mind buying stuff in the store, but I will never let them ship something to me again... What a fiasco...

don't think its sears... its more UPS. Those padded packages are what they use if it fits inside and there pretty damn strong. I Just got a rather large box stuffed with air bag packing for one 1" wrench... the box had a nice size hole that the wrench could have fallen out of, some how it was wedged sideways and didn't though. UPS looked like they played kick the can with the box .

I ordered from them for the first time just this year. It was also the last time I'll ever make that mistake. The only thing worse than their shipping is their customer service.

It's that time of year again!

As I commented in a thread from last March:

I worked receiving at night in a Sears for a few months to help make ends meet. They treat their employees poorly, pay terribly, and have about as outdated a system as you can imagine when it comes to online orders (next time you pick an order up in store, see if the employee is stuck using a pen on one of those 20yr+ old touch screens).

All the internet orders just ping from store to store until someone accepts it. They pull it from the shelf, throw it in whatever box hasn't been thrown in the compactor and toss in any packing material laying around.

It's a **** job, nobody wants to be there and all the employees are just going day to day with that feeling of impending doom, waiting for Sears to finally shut down. Add pissy customers on top of it, and throwing your back out loading fridges and toolboxes for minimum wage. It's the classic "work just hard enough not to get fired" mentality.

It's no excuse for the bad packing job so many do, I made a point to do a good job since I sell and ship online regularly, but most just couldn't care less. I was only there for a few months, then made a point to get back into doing side work, since even that being occasional paid better. I'd rather be broke then spend my nights at a depressing job with unhappy people.

I have had the same issues with Sears in the past, I don't know what kind of idiots they have packaging stuff. I have also had the same kind of issues with Amazon lately too. The packages are not handled gently by any shipper, and should be packaged accordingly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased with the product I ordered and would order again (nine 3/4" drive metric sockets made in the USA for under $30).

Still, it's hard to feel sorry for this company when they don't seem to put in ANY effort towards righting the ship.

Sears is not Sears anymore, let's be realistic about this, Sears is managed by the Kmart management, and they drove their own stores into the ground, now they are bleeding Sears out. Sears could survive, but the won't do what is needed. Modernize the stores, stop sending EVERYTHING to China for manufacturing, it's unrealistic to expect them not to send a lot of the stuff, and promote the brands you have that have value, Craftsman and Kenmore.

Be glad they were only sockets. I ordered airsoft BBs and the jar opened up in the box. Try counting 2000 BBs to make sure you have them all. :)

I ordered their 43 piece wrench set last year. The box of wrenches was put in a much larger box and shipped out, there were 5 missing by the time I got them. Sears replaced them like it's a daily occurrence.

Those are good quality, USA, 3/4 inch drive sockets... Why not purchase them. They were probably a good deal to boot. At least they were all there....

Received an order from Sears last week.

Nice large outer box, plenty of packaging, and well taped.

Arrived on time, in good condition.

They even sent me an email letting me know it was delivered.

Nobody else I've used does that.

That is what I usually get from them too. Maybe the shipper damaged the box and did that... Sears usually over packs the goods... In my experience..

Those bags (tyvec?) are dirt cheap compared to boxes. That's your answer. It's the ebay method "throw it in a bag and hope like hell it gets there okay". It was much better when everything wasn't machined.

Depends on location or warehouse it is coming from maybe. I have had the wrong stuff shipped with no package protection and just an empty cardboard box. I also have received items that you could say were over protected.

Lol, I didn't actually count them.

Followed up with vendor, got discouraged, gave up and moved on.

Most of them are in my yard now. :)
