Ok I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on either one of the above mentions heaters. My garage is 18'x36'with 10' ceiling, R15 in the walls, R30 in the ceiling. OSB lined. 14' insulated garage door. Right now only plan on running it when I'm in there working. Want to raise the temp just to where it will be comfortable. I have NG not far and think that in the long run that would be cheaper then electric. Menards has the BM at $398.00 with tax around $426.00 in stock at my local Menards. The Dornback is on ebay at $497.00 with free shipping and no tax. I've found a lot of info on the BM but not a lot on the Dornback. Anyone bought from the guy on ebay(THOMAS NEW PARTS). I did all the electrical in my garage with the help from guys right here. So I thought I would get any opinions on this.
thanks

The Beacon Morris is built by Mestek. Which also produces these same heaters under a couple different labels. I purchased the Beacon Morris 30 BTU unit. I thought about the 45 BTU unit, but the tech at Beacon Morris was concerned that it was to large for the space. I ordered it during the 11% rebate deal. The 75 BTU unit is marked currently at around a 20% discount ($468), heck of a deal, but is to big for your space.

Here is a good calulator: http://www.ultimategarageheater.com/garage-heater-energy-cost-calculator.php

Thanks for the calculator. I have both my electric bill and gas bill in front of me. I ran the numbers. I had been thinking mostly of electric but decided that NG would be the cheapest in the long run. I currently am paying $0.14 per kilowatt hour for electricity and for NG my last bill was $1.17 per therm. Making NG about $14.63 and electricity $41.03 per million BTU. If I figured everything right. I have a friend who's house is all electric and he has been cussing how high his electric bill is. This calculator really shows that. I'm sure there is a lot of varibles.
Thanks again

I bought the big maxx 50k heater from Northern tool with a coupon for $369 plus tax. If you aren't in a hurry wait for another 11% off sale at Menards.

Well if the regular price is $449.00-11%=$399.00. It would be a toss up. The rebate is a store purchase which really doesn't matter cause I would use it up with out any problems. I want to stop in at my local store and look at them. I looked the last two times I was in there and didn't see any. But I saw online it said they had 3 so I called them and they said that they were there.

I just installed the Beacon Morris 45k in a 24x32x12 shop area with R-19 walls and ceiling and a 16x9 insulated garage door. It ran at about a 20% duty cycle to maintain 55 degrees room temperature at 21 degrees outside temp. Very happy with it so far.
