Carhartt bibs.. Why did I wait so long???

i love all things carhartt, but for some reason I was sticking to using the bibs forms Walls since they were half the price.. They are warm, but never really fit me right and I look like I'm 50 lbs overweight wearing them.. I finally broke down and bought the carhartt lined bibs and I feel so stupid for waiting.. They fit SO much better since they come in actual pant sizes instead of just large/ x-large type sizes.. They are my new favorite winter gear.. Waiting for the new Carolina waterproof boots I bought to come in also.. I refuse to "want" to be warm AND comfortable anymore while I'm working.

Another thing.. I really suggest the sandstone material Carhartt offers with outdoor gear.. I have the bibs and a jacket with that material, and it's much softer, more flexible, and comfortable IMO.. i think I'm up to jacket number 5 from them.. I just got another one a few weeks ago (don't remember what model but not the sandstone material) and it did REALLY great repelling the heavy rain last week.. Planning to try and keep this one clean..

Yeah I have both and the carharrts are definitely better. I have the full coveralls though in the carharrts wish I had gotten the bibs instead. They are too hot if you are working heavily. I got the artic extremes waterproof ones.

I don't remember when I bought them, but I've had a pair for years. They were money well spent. Leg zippers are a little coarse, but if that's all I can find to complain about, then that isn't much. I'm seriously considering buying an unlined pair or two for warmer weather.

Myself I like the Key brand... But I don't wear the lined ones.. For some reason I didn't like the fit of the carhartt ...might have to try again since I am down 35 lbs.... Christmas for me.

Ive tried carhartt bibs before and never could find a fit I like. I'm 5'9 170. Idk I've always found a better fit in key or walls. I do have a carhartt duck lined coat, and I wouldn't trade it for the world

Here's a twist.I cut mine up and made an ankle length Apron saving the rear pockets, double knees and even the hammer loop.
Toss it over my head, reach around and snap it. DONE.

You gotta watch, Carhartts are still made in USA, china, and Mexico . I always check the label.

Hmm, I was looking at the Walls coveralls from Walmart they seem to be of good quality. Was thinking of buying a pair but might reconsider now.

Same, they're all I own for pants. Super cheap and work great. Once I actually stop growing I might buy Carhartt pants, but until then dickies are great. Still only wear Carhartt for tough jackets though.

Everything from Carhartt use to be made in America. They use to be one of my fathers client's when he was working years ago.. He knew the owner, we use to get everything for free.. I remember when I was a kid he would come home with the catalog every year and ask a few people if they wanted anything, and just tell them what he wanted.. I was too young at the time to benefit from that.. Anyway - Carhartts sales pitch use to be "Made In America by Union Labor". Unfortunately that's changed, and things are made all over the world, in multiple countries. (Haven't seen a China label yet myself). I would say this is what accounts for the difference in sizing from one product to the next.. I have to try everything on somewhere before I can order stuff online.. Some stuff is a large, some is extra large- even have one jacket in Extra large tall.. There is a page on their website for stuff still made in the usa, but it really isn't much.. However, the quality is top notch no matter where it's made - at least on the many items I own..

Don't get me wrong, the walls stuff is nice - I've used them for years too.. You are just limited in sizing, but it's worth trying them on and seeing if they fit you well enough.. The buckles on the walls are actually better, stronger design - and the chest area is insulated. The carhartt bibs are not insulated by your chest.. ( on the lined model, don't know about the extreme artic )

What's tough with the Carhartts is finding a place that has every size for you to try on.. I wear 36" pants (a little loose for me) but got the 40" waist on the carhartt bibs. Fits good, and leaves some room for thermals too.. The length is the same, from you regular pants size to the bibs.. So 32" for both on me..

The walls bibs are very good quality for the money.. They are Carhartts number 1 competitor.. The sizing is what did it for me, and I really like the sandstone..
