My garage is 16x36 and interior walls are sheeted over with 1/2" bare plywood. I have to paint the walls, and looking for any tips or suggestions.

I like the idea of white as it keeps everything bright and clean. But I guess white also gets dirty. I'm thinking of maybe painting the lower half of the wall BLACK and the top half WHITE. Thoughts? Anybody have pics of this combo?

Be creative..white is plain. Black may be too dark. Like ^ said look into a gray, maybe do a stripe.

The reason why I was thinking black for the bottom is because i use my garage not just for storage. Cutting, grinding and welding. Plus doing tires and brake jobs, so many times my walls get marked up from tires leaning against the wall etc.

I hate glossy paint but had to use it in the garage. We live on a canal and various bugs invade the garage. To keep it clean either I vacuum or wipe the walls so glossy helps !

I'm in the process of painting mine right now.. Didn't want white, didn't want grey.. Went with a light grey/ blue. I'm going to do the window and door trim a darker blue.

Semi-gloss/satin oil-based enamel in "Light Machine Gray"- the bottom 3' of the wall. The rest of it white- same type of paint.

That paint will clean very easily- Hell, you can even lightly hose it down without damaging it.

Since it's bare plywood, don't forget a coat of primer and then two coats of the color of your choice. Definitely don't do black.

I am doing the same. I plan on painting with zinsser primer white and calling it a day. I have lived with it for 7 years bare studs so anything is an improvement. I have one wall painted already and the light enhancement with the white is awesome.

Plus, touch up matching/painting will be easy :)

Get some galvanized steel about 24 ga. Do the bottom with that then find a 4-6 " rubber molding to go against the floor.

This guy has it going on. Gray wall ( galvanized is better---welding)
Stained floor
Rubber molding

Totally, this is a very practical solution, and what I have done. It works well and so far has been easy to keep clean.

I'd go with white, myself. But if I were to go with an off color, I would probably go with a very light blue or a light grey. I wouldn't go too dark. The lighter color makes it easier to find a small part that you drop on the floor. But that's just my .02.

Take a 9" angle grinder and toss some sparks at it while grinding a weld.....or some MIG or plasma spatter.

Ok, here ya go.

^^^That's drywall. One wall of the garage was plywood. As stated do a couple coats of primer because it will soak in. Here's the plywood wall.

Is that the dryer vent at the bottom ? I'd box that in to keep it from getting smashed.

I've had luck using Kilz oil based primer, 2 coats on the plywood.

Yes it is. I may box the entire thing, as you can see I've got the bikes situated but I need to build some type of rack for the skateboards and scooters. They'd be going right in that area.

I went with a high quality exterior white semi gloss on my lift stall. The light reflection is considerable as compared to the beige flat on the other end. Easy to wipe dirt off as well.
