Bottom rolling tool cabinet for $225? Wow with a little paint to cool down the high VIS yellow and a few mods we could have another "What mods did you do to improve your Dewalt box?"

There are lots of die hard Dewalt fans that would love displaying the colors.

IMO if one could get past the high VIS yellow paint, the Dewalt tool cabinet is made with relatively thick metal with good drawer stiffness that rivals the HF 44. Might even be made by the same factory. Drawers are rated for 100 lb and the 12" bottom is rated for 200 lb. Didn't know that the bottom drawer could be opened up completely which makes some sense if storing large power tools. Critics should check them out to see if it works for them. Decent warranty too versus 90 day

Its too small. Only 6 drawer top. To many drawers that are deep on the bottom for me

Regular price $500, sale price $350.

In case anyone is interested, I am hoping this means the Husky ones will go on sale too before Christmas.

Saw some of the Husky tool boxes on my visit to a local store yesterday as a part of the ongoing Black Friday sale. Large 16 drawer 2 piece combo for $449, for example. Not sure how it compares to the other ones mentioned, quality wise, but it was a decent looking all black in color.

Its not as well built as the dewalt but stronger metal than last years models. I doubt it would handle sockets full in the top drawer but for home use it would pass. Only issue would be geting a slide if you had issue. They are different brand everytime I look at them in store. Coo is vietnam

Checked it out a few weeks ago, not bad quality wise. Felt pretty sturdy. It's only a 36",otherwise I would pick up a bottom at that price.

I noticed that too. I think they tried to make it geared toward the contractor. It probably can accommodate all the saws and different drills in those big drawers.

Dunno, it opens half way. Idiotic cut corner design if you ask me. I was sold due to drawer highth, to put blocks and heads in...then found out it doesnt open all the way. Having it open half way totaly defeats the purpose of a big drawer...

Interesting. I walk by it everyday when I am in there and never played with it. I will take a look tomm. I make a morning run and usually a night run to the depot.

There's a stop in place which keeps the drawer from opening all the way. One of the bottom boxes at one of my Home Depots has had the stops removed and that deep bottom drawer opens fully.

Like to have detailed comparison of actual specs in that one great GJ thread.

Any one purchase this yet?? Post up thickness of metal, drawer capacity, measurements, etc so an update to that thread can be done.

Now . . . with all that Dw advertising, you'd think they could put you on mailing list and ship out new free battery for their cordless tools every 2 years !! :D

I'm thinking of buying the top chest and making a cart out of it. Saw if for $125 and am gonna sleep on it before I do anything drastic.

Personally I think this is great value for money, when you consider the equivalent in husky or craftsman would cost you easily twice as much and much more flimsy.

I think this rivals the harbor freight stuff, and id take this over their 26" stack.

The drawer layout is a downside, could have made them abit thinner and added a couple more and even divided them, the top box mounted on a cart would be good, diagnostics up top.

:+1: If someone needed a bottom box or a cart for $225, that is a nice setup. 36" and all. Bottom would be good for bulk fluids and power tools.

At this price point for somebody needing a decent box, it wouldn't be bad. Bigger than the average 26" stack on cabinets and for those short on room and can't fit a 40"+ box, this would probabaly fill the bill. Since the top looks to open flush with the back, it should flat against a wall, maybe perfect for an enclosed construction or car trailer.

I'm not super keen on the huge open top but I'd imagine a bunch of hansen socket rails would sit there nicely.
