8-22mm combination stahlwille spanners

PB Swiss: PH1,PH2,PH3
3mm,4mm,5mm flats
T8,T9,T10,T15,T20,T25
Rainbow allen keys
Magnetiser
Picks, 4 of
FREE pen/screwdriver thing with reversible blade.

That little lot came out at 315Euros delivered from Germany, which worked out at £300.23 which is roughly $415 so not too bad really I don't think, love the quality of it all and the same from snap-on would have been a mighty lot more.

I've not had use for any of them yet really, the multicraft feels very nice in the hand but is hard so no complaints.. the swiss grip I think I'll have to use before I give my opinion but very grippy but not clammy in the hands like most soft grips are. I like the fact the swiss have the hex bit for using a spanner for extra leverage. I've loving the holow ground flats and the philips bits look better than the snap-on and mac ones I've got. The torx bits also are really nice, most small torx bits have some sort of graining on the bit and the different "flanges" seem to blend together.. not these, all are very precise looking.

I'll get some more pics of the stahlwilles, one thing that amazes me is how amazingly lightweight they are! In comparison the 22mm stahlwille weights the same as my colleges 12mm snap-on flank drive.... They look fantasticly made and just have a feel of quality to them.

The PB swiss magnetiser is fantastic as-well, not like most that "kind" of work, this thing REALLY works. The picks are really nice and unlike most of the picks I've had/got they actually seem really well made and I hope hard wearing. As for the rainbox keys... well had to have them.

I'm due a tax re-bate in about 6 weeks so more german bits coming then and with the next pay cheque comes a nice box to keep them all safe in. any recomendations?

for jerk chicken are some pictures below of the stahlwilles, I took them of the 10mm and the 22mm, they all are the same, just different sizes obviously, none have any casting flaws at all.

Looks like chipped chrome near the open end of 10mm.

Does the box end have a 15 deg angle like most combos or is it parallel to the wrench beam but just dip down for clearance?

the box end has a 15 deg angle, and I can reasure there is no chips, just me and my greasy hands making funny marks. I'm on the search for some deep offset metrics to match, my original supplier offers a MASSIVE set covering 6mm-32mm and works out cheaper than the set I brought.. It'll have to work till next pay cheque, along with lots more PB Swiss, some stubby wrenches and a few quality punch sets.
Many Thanks

Dan

Personally, I feel that quality American made tools are prettier than German. The Germans make utilitarian practcal tools. They don't necesarily care that much about high polish. Their tools are strong, built with tight tolerances and feel nice in the hand. I have both German (stahlwille) and various American wrenches. I like them both in different ways.

Look better than Snap On.

I completely get what you mean, but I care more about quality than looks and I feel that although snap-on are good, they're not any better quality wise than the stahlwille and certainly not worth the extra £.
A matched set doesn't really do it for me either, but stahlwille do some of the best offset spanners I've ever seen and will match, so thats them sold.. I'm still undecided about stubbys though.. I want quality but refuse to pay rediculous prices on them, at the end of the day they won't be taking massive torque, they'll be used quite rarely but I can't go without them because you can bet I'll be needing them.

More like "Steel Willy", which isn't all that bad when you think about it... :bounce:

walking round with a "steel hard..." all day would take the shine off of it... but then go home and the misses will polish that shine right back up :bounce:

as for the tools... had to undo some stuborn bolts on a lawnmower earlier, the spanners worked just as I expected but even with one really badly bodged fasterner the ring end held tight with no fuss or worry. Really impressed, 5* review.

Nice stuff !!

What are you guys using the hex key sets on ? I have piles of them ( not fancy like those ) in a drawer and almost never touch them. I usually grab a bit style socket.

Bought 10 sets of these in 1998........gave most of them away to clients who purchased a lot of Facom tools and storage systems frome me for their garage projects.

I can no longer get these wrenches....they were (are ) expensive if you can still find them. SD
