Oh and this because I needed a 12 mm today and didn't have it. I will probably never need it again but damn it, now I have them.

How much were they ? Are they made in Taiwan?

13 bucks and Taiwan. Hardly anything in the plant is metric but ran into 12 mm bolts on bearing guide ways today. About 50 of them. Have a 12mm hex L, but man that was slow going.

I have the Duralast large sockets in Sae and those are very nice, these are a different design and not nearly as nice looking but I am sure they will function perfectly well. These look beefier than the sae's and appear they will do well in an impact.

Good to hear. Glad they are Taiwan and not china. Looks like I will grab some to have for that price. I have never needed bigger than a 10mm but know I will need it someday and I won't have them. I just couldn't swallow the $40 and more for each one of those in the snap on version so I never got them.
What are some automotive examples of 12mm and up hex sizes?

IME, both the ratchet and impact are **** haha...but i have both...or had...the 3/8 impact got lost under a truck a few months ago(left it on the skidplate of a truck i did a valve body on)

the only thing in the "microlithium" lineup worth a damn is the cordless screw driver...that thing is awesome

The impact he's talking about is the newer CT761 14.4v 120lb/ft model, not the 7.2 volt. Nothing "****" about it. Since i have access to both it and an M12 fuel I happen to prefer the SO a hair more in every way except price.

I happened to of liked my 7.2 volt too before the 14.4 replaced it. Great little tool for valve covers, body panel fasteners, sump pans, skid plates etc.. You just need to recognize the limitations of the platform.

I love my 7.2v impact  I kinda want the new 14.4 version now but it'll wait...

Thanks for having HF stuff without the smell Menards!

Aw, I kinda like it. Just two nights ago I had the kids gather around, took the pulley/belt cover off of my new drill press, and let them have their first whiff of Chinese Rubber Stink.

In all seriousness, what the hell is it?? Gotta be a chemist around here who knows why a Snap-on plastic deadblow smells nothing whatsover like a HF plastic deadblow......

The snap on doesn't get the smell of human despair blended into the plastic from the workers.

I have that exact set, lots of applications on foreign diffs and perhaps transmission drain bolts. I seem to recall my BMW being 14mm, or is it the Subaru?

Same, I have two 7.2v screw guns and the 3/8 impact, they all work great for what their limits are. For anything else I have my 14.4 3/8 impact or MG31. I fro drool over the new 14.4 mini series but can't justify the cost since I don't wrench for a living anymore.

Craigslist score for $140. The Allen sockets are snap on and the screw driver is a 75th anniversary edition whatever that's worth. The code reader is brand new and was never used. Box was sealed, I made sure it worked first and it does.

Where'd you get the Cat branded S.O. pliers? I'm always on the lookout for Cat branded tools.

You can get CAT branded tools from your local CAT dealer. They have a full catalog online.

I didn't really want to go to the office Christmas party, but they were giving out bonus checks tonight so I decided to show up.

Got the air ratchet in the "$25 limit" Dirty Santa exchange and then the boss gave all the techs the GearWrenches.

picked up a couple things over the thanksgiving holiday.

Williams 1/2" ratchet set

some older snappy stuff. an SL710, F730 and an F720. All three work great after a quick clean and some super lube. They have no real internal wear on the pawls or ratchet gear.

Interested in how the steam cleaner works for you.. I've been looking for one

The crossbar thing is really nice. I got one too and used it last weekend. I used it to put rear cradle/transmission back in a car.. worked great
