Picked up my 2nd one today, but the first one is close to being out of comission already. After using it all weekend, it will only reel in about 3/4 of the hose. It seems like the spring has come uncoiled or misaligned and doesn't want to reel anymore in.

Well I don't feel so bad for not being able to score one if they only last a weekend
Maybe I'll save up for a better one or look for a used USA made reel
Sorry your's is not performing.Guess you can take it back for exchange or refund?

Cant you take off the plastic hose stop and wrap the hose arond the reel a couple times to make the required tension?

The only thing there are more of than cheap people - are cheap people posting about being cheap.
If it was easy, then maybe. If I had to argue with a manager, drive 80 miles out of my way, get my sister to buy it in another state, it's just not worth it to me. According to 5cent though - sounds like they aren't....worth it.
No wonder everything is made in China for a dollar. Think of the effort you'll expend just to save a few bucks (even 50). CEO's (and Sam Walton) know cheap people will sell their souls for a bargain. They'll also sell their neighbours, neighbourhoods, quality of life, pensions, the ability for small-business to compete - and much more - just to get a cheaper product. Then we have the balls to complain about the quality!![]()

Where's the best deal on a good 50' hose now? HF has the goodyear black and vilo??? red ones for $20 something bucks. I have a free sears reel I am using that is not self-retracting, but has the same type of crappy hose the taskforce comes with, more plasticy than rubber.

went out this morning and the f'ing end of my hose is balloned out 3 times the size of the hose at the end. im going to return it today.
wow, what psi you running to that hose?
the factory setting on my comp is at 135 or so. but after it makes it through all 200 ft or so of my air line piping it probly at 100 psi or so. like i mentioned before NO issues with my pvc hoses.wow, what psi you running to that hose?
Thus why I have a ball valve on my system and shut it off at night . I take the pressure off the system when I am not in the shop and I have been doing this since I woke up one mornng to find my compressor running and had no idea how long it had been or when the hose burst.

thats why i turn off my breaker every night.
No instructions.
What do you need to know.
A good strong base with some 1/4 or 3/8 lag bolts. Some teflon tape for the fitting and your done.
Its not rocket science.![]()

Actually, that logic may be flawed. Not the part about the breaker, but the pressure at the end of the line. It will be lower when you are running tools because of the pressure drop. But at rest, there is no pressure drop. The pressure is the same at all points in the system except where regulated. The ball valve is a great idea too, but when you shut off the valve, the pressure in the line is still at what it was before it was shut off, and will continue to be until something leaks down. There are valves that release pressure when turned off, but most of us don't use them. I guess what I am saying is that if you are trying to save your hose by long runs or shutting off the valve, that may not work. If you are looking to save the compressor, then right on!

Not sure if it was meant to be one..But thanks for the mini-lecture.
I don't think the effort of browsing the net for a few minutes, printing out a page and going to Lowe's to save $55 on a single item is anywhere near what it takes me to EARN that $55 at work.
You can ***** all you want about Walmart, but they put money back in MY pocket with their pricing and provide THOUSANDS of AMERICANS with jobs and a reliable source of income...such a corporate monster. If there were more Americans willing to WORK instead of sucking the $$$ straight out of taxpayers wallets we might be able to see more "MADE IN USA" products in those stores.
OK. Thanks. The bracket with the 4 rollers on it has a couple of different bolt hole patterns on it. Just wondered if it could or needs to be repositioned for ceiling mount, but I guess it doesn't.![]()
I repositioned the bracket with the roller fairlead to point down at a 45° angle when I installed the reels on the wall, up high (about 7 ft). Had to grind a slight notch in the bracket to clear a nut on the latch shaft.
