Sent my package out today. Didn't write anything on the box regarding SS, other than my handle on outside. as part of return address.

Got my box all ready to close up and send out this week. My victim never chimed in over on the other thread. I hope he/she likes socks and underwear from the dollar store:lol_hitti

The special thing I ordered for my victim arrived today. Sadly my SS didn't give me a lot of room to work with (within my budget anyway) so I've done what I can; I just have to keep my fingers crossed in the meantime that it's something that can be put to good use and enjoyed. I plan to mail it out tomorrow.

This is my first year for this event. Am I supposed to reveal my identity inside the box or keep it a secret forever?

Quick question - to mail to Canada they made me fill out custom forms that clearly state on the outside of the package what is inside. The forms said this is required, so what do I do about that? I don't mail to Canada really ever, did I screw up and I didn't have to do this? :dunno:

On the flip side, since this is the case, should I contact my person and tell them not to read the shipping label until Xmas? lol... :lol_hitti

Looking for opinions and advice, thanks!

Mr. Moderator, would it be possible for you to send a message to everyone that's
part of the Secret Santa and ask them to PLEASE post an intro on the Meet your
secret Santa thread?
Some of us have names of guys we don't know anything about, The Meet your Secret
Santa thread is a great idea, but I'll bet most guys haven't posted anything there.
I'm really fretting over what to get for mine and so far have no idea, I want it to
be great and it would really help.

thanks,

thanks,

To be in SS you have to have enough posts that your sender should be able to figure out what you would enjoy. It's a good guess that a member of Garage Journal likes tools and fixing things. Do a search by username and look at what they have posted or responded to.

You are supposed to use this as an exercise to expand your diagnostic skills.

Being as this is a "Secret Santa" I like to stay anonymous. That way the recipient can only guess where their Santa originated from and he/she will be blessed with "Garage Journal Goodwill" all year long.

thanks,

My feeling is that anyone who did not post in that thread would be quite happy with anything that showed up. It is very considerate of you to want to do a great job. I don't think it is possible to disappoint, short of not getting your gift in the mail.

Well I'm off to the PO this morning. Merry Christmas to all!

I sent my package today, Out of the U.S.A., wow 48.95 for a 6 pound box. I sure hope that my person likes what I got them. They were no help. I filled out the customs paper work and was told that it was kept at customs and that my person would never see them. Not sure this is true or not, Never have shipped through customs before....Rich
I asked about when it would get there and they laughed at me and told me after customs gets finished with it. What ever that is suppose to mean... Rich

I'm fortunate that my gift went to someone in US, I live in Canada, but I have a very good friend that lives across the boarder so he helped me with the shipping.
Just a thought for future years, maybe the SS/recipients could be chosen withing countries to ease shipping costs/ procedures? ?

I shipped my gift off to Long Island on Monday. I went to the mailbox today and found mine. This means a lot of days of shaking and squeezing.

agreed.....didn't want to sound like a Grinch, so it kept me from participating as I know overseas shipping can get waaaaaay expensive
