Milwaukee corded deep-cut portaband saw. I just picked this up along with the SWAG table so I can now use my 7" Jet horizontal/vertical bandsaw specifically for horizontal cutting operations. Using that type of saw in the vertical position, while effective, is not the most efficient or comfortable way to cut metal.

I've seen a few big purchases like this in this thread.

I am curious, what drives such a big "all-at-once" type of purcdhase?

I think most people (but not all) start with some sort of socket-and-wrench set and some pliers/screwdrivers, then add tools usually "as needed".

So every time I see a big purchase like that, I wonder about the background. For example - did you just start a career as a mechanic or maintenance worker, but have not tools previously (so that you would need to stock your toolbox all at once)?

Just wondering. Nice haul.

I got the original one. Let us know how this one works?

I stuck a bolt in the vise, just a typical bolt with a 15mm head, within seconds it began smoking. In 20 seconds the head was bright red. Last time I used one was 4 or 5 years ago and I don't recall if that was the original on the mini 2.

I can understand grouping shipping to cut costs, but not sure that answers my question fully.

The question still remains, why so many at once? He mentioned he had another shipment of ~90lbs on the way.

And I've seen similar purchases posted here from people that aren't overseas, so that explanation would not be relevant for people Stateside.

I've saved piles of money with flat rate international boxes, especially since my forwarder can fit 10 lbs of **** in a 5lb box!! (thanks WP!)

A lot of US eBay sellers ship domestically for free or for very little cost. As soon as they have to ship to Canada, for example, that cost doubles or triples and now with the wonderful Global Shipping program, you pay the customs plus other fees right up front (usually a lot more than actual customs would charge, if at all)...for one item. If I can fit 10-12 items into one flat rate international box, I pay ~$50 shipping one time, not 12 times.

I'm unsure if this applies to the person you were asking about (by the looks of his reply, it does on both counts) but sometimes people have to use alternate routes to get stuff they can't get locally or to get stuff at a more reasonable cost.

Thanks Matt. Guess I will need to upgrade in the near future. Although I don't work on old cars anymore.

Are those craftsman thin profile ratchets? If so I bought mine right before they did the China swap and so far every single one has had to be rebuilt at least twice. Have been very disappointed.

Sad to say considering I have an sk ratchet that is decades old. Hope yours are turn out better.

More used, but new to me. Two(!) Snap-On 1/2 inch torque wrenches. They're not twins. One reads in foot pounds, the other in kg meters. As for the ring compressors, I only wanted the little one for automotive engines. Since I had to buy all three, I now have two ring compressors which I assume are used on large diesel tractor engines. They will probably end up on fleabay.

Thanks will do that tomorrow morning. From I could tell the box is solid. I had purchased one prior from toolbox.com and they failed box took weeks to arrive and arrived all banged up. For what HF charges its a great deal and I needed one in a hurry since I am starting a new job. Thanks for the tip.
