We had our annual Christmas open house this week!!
over 200 hot rod buddies and their wifes were over for burgers and shakes in the diner. We filled the yard with hot rods and everyone was asked to bring food for the less fortunate and did they ever. We filled the bed of my 56 ford p/u and delivered it to a place in town that feeds the homeless

We managed to park 72Hot rods and 25 street cars around the garage

Wally

Thanks Wally

The Delivery is a rare truck here and that COE looks so good.

Simon
That COE is a fine piece and the 55 panel is painted out AS a gilmore oil truck
Ive never seen that panel off the COE

What charity do you donate the food to Don ?

WE gave the food to The Settlement house that feeds the homeless and low income households

The place looks great Don, that plane is a beauty. You sure packed all your guests vehicles in well, i love the little nash metro and hope to buy one in the future, also great to see you always thinking of the less fortunate, i am sure they will appreciate it. I hope you got a spare minute to sit back with Ann and take it all in what you have accomplished.
Tip my hat off to ya mate, Lee

The white truck was a little too close for my comfort to that 1970 mustang. I'm sure it was ok, but I would be a little nervous. Shop looks great.

Thanks 56vette
And may you and your family have a merry Christmas and a great holliday season

:thumbup: A true Christmas gift. Should be more like you.

Simon
For sure there is a good feeling in the air when you give a little of yourself
to some one else, and I am certain That everyone at the party had a better time knowing they were helping out our comunity.

Merry Christmas to you and your family

Don, always enjoy reading your thread. Is the black and silver car at the bottom a 72 Rivie? The lines kinda look like it, but just from that picture it's kinda hard to tell.
Thanks

terrierman
Welcome to the party garage. The car in question is a custom 1967 Riviera
Thanks for the visit

Thanks for your kind thoughts
The yard was packed with beautiful iron thats for sure, and Ann and I both visited with all of our guests all afternoon while some of our closest friends did the cooking and clean up for the party!!
The metro was a big hit all day.It belongs to a good friend of ours

The Mustang is a hot boss 302 and the pictures lie just a bit. There was plenty of room between the truck and the mustang

Cool, I wish I had the time, money and space to do this

Thank you, I believe that this is your first post on the party garage
The garage is a work of love that keeps me busy

I bet there our a lot of little kids that would love to be pedaling that around this Christmas!!! (And maybe some big kids too! :))

shopnut
I made sure no one would be pedaling the plane anywhere.
It is high above the main door on the shelf with the other pedal cars
Thanks for stopping by
Merry Christmas

Don can always find the treasurers! That is just "plane" cool!

Very clever Ody (plane cool)
It seems that I have been around long enough for these treasures to find me

Tomorrow I will post a picture of the little tractor that found me today.
It is a yard tractor with a hit and miss engine mounted on it for power.
The tractor is sitting in the back of my pick up tonight

Merry Christmas Ody
Enjoy the holidays

Don

Don, I saw you mention on the Alemite thread that you were looking at getting another pre-fab station and redoing it as a Gilmore station in your garage. Any chance of you doing a renovation thread on it or are you going to include pics of the build on this thread?

I live on Route 66 and there are a lot of old stations around here that would be very cool to purchase and restore but they are all in terrible areas (just run down, not crime ridden necessarily) or they have been converted to liquor stores. Your party garage gives me so many ideas!

I haven't secured another station yet. I am still lookling high and low.
Because it will land inside the party garage I think it appropriate to include it in this thread However I may do a small build thread as well (if I ever come across another station)
I would have to be a 20s or 30s prefab station to work for me

I'm happy to hear that you like my garage

Don....have I missed something? When did you get the Frishes Big Boy? I don't remember seeing where you got a life size one, but nice addition,

2u46am9.jpg

Hi Kevin
I hate to say it but Bobs Big boy has been there for about 3 years
My wife found it at the L.A. roadster show and was so excited that she bought it without thinking of how to get it home. As fate works its magic I had just ran into a buddy that had a truck there and he loaded it up and brought it home for us.

I learn something everyday. I always thought that Bob's Big boy, and Frisch's Big Boy was one in the same other than Bob's went to Frisch's in name. But even the Big Boy is different. Bob's does not have a hat, and Frisch's big boy has one of the paper hats on.

Looks like Frische's started in 1902 in Cincinnati Ohio, acquired the Big Boy trademark for Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky in the 80's. The big thing was he changed the tatar sauce from a Thousand Island that was the California specialty. Donated a lot to charity and is still going strong.

I'm thinking the Big Boy icon and the old A&W Papa burger, Mama burger, and Baby burger were all about the same era. Just don't see anything like that these days." Them were the good ole days"
Merry Christmas to all, and to ALL a good nite, from the other fat guy, me!

A&W, Lodi, California, just south of Sacramento has one of the original A&W Drive In's. And, they are great supporters of the car clubs around the area. Makes for a fun day down memory lane and showing the grandkids that we really did have a life without all the electronic gadgets.

Merry Christmas to all the Big Party followers. I'll be at post 1752, lifting a glass to you all for great health and happy projects for 2015. Thanks Don for all the wonderful stories of the garage and letting us jump in from time to time.:rocker:
