Has anyone modified a HF 44" top box so the drawers stay unlocked when the top is closed. I have a limited height area to put the box and I will not be able to open the stop once the box is slid into place.

Not hard at all to do. Just remove the 3 locking bars in the back of the top compartment that hinge on the lid.

I cannot tell from the pictures on their site. Are they bolted or riveted? Can they be replaced at a later date if my situation changes and I need to be able to lock the box?

Thanks

You can grind off the end of the hinge pin, drive it out and find a way to block up the straps that hook into the back of the drawers. Or pull out the bars and save for reinstall at later date.

They have a pin that is slightly peened. If you are careful you could remove and then replace them at a later date.
