USA double flaring tool at Sears.... not much longer?

I was in Sears earlier tonight picking up some other things when these USA made double flaring tools caught my eye. They were down on the bottom shelf all by themselves and I happened to notice the USA flag on the package. Then I looked straight up from them and hanging on a hook I saw another double flare kit. Both kits have the same Craftsman part number but the one on the hook is made in Taiwan. Here is where it gets interesting..... The normal price for the Taiwan kit is $67.99, and the USA kit is $64.00. Lol. So I decided to buy one of the USA kits just to have an extra one on hand. I get to the cashier and it rings up $34.99. Not bad for a USA double flaring tool..... so I bought two of them. lol.

I asked the guy working in the tool department if the USA double flare kits were being phased out in favor of the Taiwan kits. He didn't know for sure but he said "that seems to be the trend"

So anyway, if someone is looking for a USA made double flaring tool, check out your local sears to see if they have any remaining USA stock and get it for $34.99.

Taiwan kit on the left, USA kit on right.

You did great on that purchase. That looks exactly like my Matco one which is the same as the SO one and both are over $100:beer:

Bought the same CM USA double flaring tool this summer to replace a few rusty brake lines. Quality was much better than the "rental" imported versions at the parts store. Appreciated the quality and ease in double flaring the brake lines under the car. Last time I checked the local Sears, it was disappointing to see the Taiwan version of the double flare kit. Quality was still better than the usual "rental" imported versions but the tool no longer looked the same as the US version.

I was very impressed with the quality and feel of the USA kit. It looks and feels like it's very well made. Hopefully it works as good as it looks. lol. I do very little brake line work but this kit HAS to be better than the HF kit I used last time.
