I disagree on the SS clues part, thats all most of us really wanted or needed from our SS was a clue as to what their hobbies and interests were so we could get something remotely near what they liked, so the recipient got something they could at least use or appreciate, which was/is one of the biggest hurdles in shopping for someone else, at least in my opinion. ..

This ^^^ on the SS Victims thread is about clues. It doesn't have to be a list, just likes and dislikes. My victim posted, but with really unhelpful stuff. AND his posts (I went though all 500 of them available) were not indicative of his likes or dislikes for the most part.

People that post on the Garage sale thread for instance, are easy to see what they like, or people that post other things they get or do. Some are not that kind of poster though. :dunno:

I just got mine yesterday at the post office... and was blown away by the custom box art. Awesome! :rocker:

We've had a few family emergencies/illnesses this month (everything is fine now) and I wasn't able to get my gift out until this morning (12-18) and I hope that it arrives in time.

Mine showed up today 2nd year in a row my SS has been from Canada. First off great job on the wrapping paper! Second, I'm so excited I can't even stand it. Obviously you had to put something on the declaration label for customs I see the words tools and toys! I can't wait!

I have an idea as far as shipping strategy, for next year. We can break it into zones. Say Those that PM add a C (for Canada) in the PM subject bar. Then that's the pool of recipients for that area. Same for Europe. If the guys stateside wanted to do this, as well, we just do an East/West and divide the country (in advance) so that residents in the middle could figure if they were east or western group.

I personally think it should remain the way that the secret Santa is setup as far as shipping goes. Half the fun is not knowing where in the world the gift may be coming from.

I have yet to receive my gift but my recipient has got thiers.

I agree. It would be cool to send and receive something from across the pond... Either pond...

My victim got his... Haven't received mine yet either...

Nothing here yet either, but last year many folks didn't get their gift until the last minute or right after Christmas so no worries.

However, more importantly, I am relieved to see that my SS did receive his gift!

ok i', genuinely stumped.... maybe my SS was local??? lol

apparently while i was at work a box got dropped off, doesn't have a shipping label on it, just a tag with SS and my name stuck to it like it came directly from a store.

it is messin with me a little bit. i thought that it might be something else in the box, because i know i've sent a few different things out in old milwaukee boxes in an attempt to mess with people, but it looks untouched. if so that is pretty damn awesome of whoever my SS is.

Tracking showed mine was delivered yesterday.

I love the possibility of having a sender or recipient from abroad. My tools came from South Africa last year. We need to do an international tool and equipment sticker swap sometime.

Yeah I hate shipping late. I had a deal worked out for something AWESOME with a seller about 50 miles away from me but the dude refused to try and help me out with a time to meet. I work a factory job at night and watch my 15 month old son while my wife works and was trying to see if he could meet me at least half way but he refused to budge because of the lack of time I have between waking up, taking my son to my moms, and going to work which is 20 miles in the OTHER direction. :(

Next year I'll go back to my old tried and true method from the prior years and it will ship out early..... Mine is all packed up and ready to go to the post office. Hopping in the shower now and then changing my sons clothes and off we go.

Most of us are men, and as such really go out and buy what we need, when we need it. For that reason i didn't reply to the " getting to know your..." thread. I like opening surprises.

I get your point, but the "get to know you" doesn't have to be asking for a specific item. Hell, if I knew my recipient was into something I could put my own spin on it. But, not knowing makes it hard to be creative on a personal level.

Most of us are MEN... we need some direction when it comes to gift giving. :D

honestly, i just put stuff together i thought would be useful, my SS literally said he has pretty much everything you could ask for shop related, but there are always a few handy items you never knew you needed til you get them.

i also feel it takes the gift out of gift giving if you tell someone specifically what you want lol.

Thats the truth!! I need all the help I can get, then I can make a good choice.
I did the research on my SS but came up with very little other than he likes to sell things a lot. What do you get someone who sells everything? To me I really don't care what I get, but out of courtesy I gave a few hints to make it easier or my fellow GJer.

Mine arrived, which I do not remember if I posted or not. Beerman appears to have been my SS.

My recipient has his arriving on 12-23 according to the USPS. Went out this morning. I hope he likes it. Getting some normal stuff, something I am going to start a trend with for every years SS, and then two very unique items nobody else on here has. :)

Agreed. I don't like the specificity. But if I knew the passions/interests/hobbies, I think it may allow me to be more creative.

Last year I had Duker. He shared a bunch about his welding projects, a file project and other posts as such. It was fun finding him something useful that might remind him of the annual GJ Secret Santa. He didn't ask for anything that I got him... it was just nice to go through threads and figure him out.

That's all I really want to do, try to have fun putting thought into it. For me it's always been part of the fun of the holidays/birthdays/etc. thinking about the person and being creative.

Tracking says mine is delivered so I'm happy. Also received the package from my SS the other day and this may be a clue or may be referring to my lighthouse avatar. Thank you and can't wait till we all open them. Fun stuff.

It's a clue! Your SS is either from Alabama or is a fan of the University of Alabama.

Just got back from the PO. Mine SS came through. Thanks J... I hope you get out of the traffic you seem to be stuck in. I'll wait until X-mas to open and post pics.
My victim has his but hasn't said so yet. I hope he's not someone that doesn't like Yanks and refuses to acknowledge it.

Mine hasnt shown up yet, but im not worried since i am a slacker on getting mine out too!

EDIT: I can get it there by Tuesday, YEAH!!!

Mine package arrived this afternoon in recycled packaging. I shook the box and I think that the pizza is gone.
