Again...

About a pound and a half of sealant per bolt, apparently someone had some cabin pressure problems... Tried loosening them with a standard Proto just for kicks.... Slipped right off.

I think I would like a set of metric Wrightgrip combo's one day... only question is Satin or Polished? :dunno: I'm leaning toward satin...:drool:

Me too!! I actually like them better then SO and they're a fraction of SO's price. They're just a tad thicker which make them feel better in my hand.

I like 1foxracing's idea. It'll be easy to differentiate Metric vs SAE.

I believe he has each of them(metic and SAE) in both satin and polished:evil:

I ordered mine from trident supply. They ordered me the d980 19 pc set that comes with a wright tools board that the wrenches hang on for less then most other sites had the 958 18 pc set listed for.

This might be the last straw. I've had two sets of Williams Superenches in the shopping cart for a month, but I just spent an hour looking at Wrightgrips. I like.

OP, where do you work? I spend a few hundred hours a year in King Air's, much of which is spent telling C-130's where to go.....

Both my sets are metric. All my personal vehicles are metric and I don't work on Harleys or Polaris products. The few SAE tools I own are all at least 20 years old and the majority is Craftsman.

Amazon is a good place, the free shipping helps as well especially with UPS & FedEx raising their rates next week.

Assuming you didn't use the box end of the wrench because the sealant was in the way - just a tip:

If you come across this frequently you might consider "surface drive" sockets. They are pretty easy to press onto bolt/nuts covered with dirt/selant.

I grab them if I am faced with lots of cleaning OR using BFH on regular 6 point sockets. And the bonus is you dont have to hammer the bolt out of the socket once done.

As you can see there is plenty of room in there for dirt/selant beetween the socket and the nut. Great sockets for many uses!

Why didn't you use the closed end of the wrench to break the bolt free. Seems like the proto would have worked cine if you did it that way.

The sealant prevented me from getting the box end over it until I had worked it with the open end. There were globs of it, it was very old and hard, and im pretty sure it was mixed hot.

If I could reasonably justify buying a new set of wrenches, Wright would get my money. I've never been disappointed with a Wright tool.

+1! I also skipped SK day out of financial necessity, but I would start selling plasma before I'd miss out on Wright day!

Somewhere there is a video of a guy using a WrightGrip to twist off a bolt. Very impressive! I also think he later did a similar video using one or two other brand wrenches.

I don't know the link to these videos, but I'm sure someone else here on GJ knows where to find them. Can someone help leod out here?

I've got wrench sets of several different brands in my toolbox and pegboards in addition to the WrightGrips, but the WrightGrips are my favorite.
