I need help to pick a floor colour

What about a gray floor with the red and black

The tile a can get is this colour

Monochromatic grey is good for a lot of reasons, it's somewhat light reflective so it brightens the room, and it's easier to find that odd nut or screw you dropped on it than on a variegated colored floor.......that coin style flooring is not as common over here as in Europe. We can get it, but our floors are usually smooth...

LIGHT gray epoxy, if the floor is smooth enough to do it. You'll also be able to find that dropped spring easier, and it's easy to clean.

Tan or lite blue. Leave the cabinets natural. Gray is just to industrial.

What; if anything are you doing with the cabinets? If leaving natural id go with tan. It's all in the same tone and will pull together the look.

As for, "too industrial" - it's a garage, what's it supposed to look like? A living room? I like the light gray too. It wouldn't be a mistake to use it regardless of whether you do anything to the cabinets or not.

The black and red thing has been done to death, including by me! That's why Jack Olsen's and few other's garages are so cool, they went away from the mainstream. But the grey floor will work with anything you choose to do......

I have the red/black thing too and I'm thinking of changing to the look GJ'er, "Boyd" pioneered here:


He's since sold this house and the cabinets went with it according to his thread. So....if I do it I'm claiming it as my own! Ha Ha. Not really, but I truly love his look and I'm not above ripping off a good idea, and his ideas were great in my opinion.

Good luck making decision on floor color / colour. If all your tool boxes are red, I'd go with complimentary colors to red.

If you are going to work in the area...do NOT do this.

This is a multi color epoxy of sorts. Our entire shop was done with this process and color...and it is truly horrible to work on. If you drop something, you will be lucky to find it. For whatever the reason, your eyes will not focus on a single item on it.
Normal now days it to sweep the entire bay and hope what you are looking for will be in the pile when you are done.
Not one tech in the shop would not get down and gnaw this stuff off with their teeth if they could.
After enduring working on this, I would only use a solid, light color myself.

Agreed. Those color chips they thrown on epoxy floors is like camouflage!

^ ^ That's looking better. Like the black / gray squares on floor. However, think the body of cabinets in gray is too much gray. I'd go with a third color. Maybe white (brightens up room) or Ford blue ??

Definitely do something with the cabinets. I think they would look REALLY nice if you stained them. Painting would be nice but I think it would take away from it in a way... My cabinets are white with gray. My floor is light gray with broadcasted flakes... so it works.

Depending on the floor color you choose I'd say figure out what you want to do with the cabinets first. Light gray floor reflects the llight so it would make it a little brighter for ya, easier to find dropped stuff, sort of..lol

Not a fan of tan floors but that's me.
