Is a set of SAE Mandrels & Noses available for the Astro Tool 1427?
Ordered the light, screw driver set, both hand rivet guns, and the socket extractor set.
cant wait to try them out, have always been very pleased with the AP tool line.
Really wanted the Onyx prep kit, but I already got the mini straight and 90 degree grinders that I use for the majority of the work.....but still wouldn't mind it![]()

I procrastinated and missed the last two woot sales but got in on this one. Got 2 of the inspection lights and the L handle damaged allen wrenches and a plastic riveter. I couldn't decide between the sockets of the L handle damaged socket head drivers so went with the L handle for now. I was going to get both since it's such a good deal but didn't want to take the money at this time. I was going to pick up a HF plastic riveter in the near future so this sale worked out good for me. Would have liked to pick up the hose clamp pliers that look really useful but didn't. Thanks Astro.
Its a shame that they won't ship overseas..
I am eyeballing that 1442.
What is the difference between that and 1427 ?
I got my woot order yesterday, fast shipping. Very happy with my order. The flashlights are very nice and bright. For a couple bucks you can't go wrong. They also feel and look nice, like they would cost a lot more. The plastic rivet gun also feels and looks very well made. Hopefully it will work as good as it looks and feels. I've never used a plastic rivet gun before but was planning on picking up the HF version just to have around. Glad the astro one was included in the woot sale because it looks to be a lot better made then the HF plastic riveter.
The L handle damaged socket head remover looks to be pretty well made also. I haven't used them yet and hopefully I won't have to but will have them. I'm not sure on the cam end yet. They look to be pressed into the tool. Are these ends supposed to stop at a certain point or rotate all the way around? The smaller sizes also look to be stuck but they will probably free up when I use them.
Overall I'm very happy and I think I spent 40 bucks shipped for the 2 flashlights and plastic riveter and damaged socket head L wrenches. Nice little present to myself. Thanks again astro and woot.
I picked up the surface prep kit and a utility knife. I have been wanting a 90 deg. die grinder for quite a while. I did notice that they Onyx 90 deg doesn't show up on the Astro website...Hey everyone!
It looks like Woot.com is running a promo on Astro Products through 11/17/2014!

I was using my little pocket inspection light yesterday and I had it on the UV light feature and noticed something. When you hold the UV light about 4-6" away from a surface you can see what looks like an "A" in the middle of the light. Was I just seeing things from being out in the cold all day or did astro really make the UV light have an A in it?![]()

I'm glad it wasn't just my mind playing tricks on me!
Pretty neat idea though. I like the light so far. It's not my brightest pocket flashlight but it has a decent light pattern. I also like the magnet in it and the way the grip feels. Seems like a well thought out light. I haven't used the UV part yet but will be nice when I do need it. My only complaint would be how it switches between the lights. I use the flashlight part and then go to click it off but it goes to a dim UV light. You have to click it twice for it to go off. A couple of times now I have thought I turned it off but really the UV light was on for a while. I'm sure I'll go through a few sets of batteries before I start remembering to double check that I turned it off. But other then that it's a great light.
thanks for your information![]()
Thanks Charles, I'm actually glad to see options like AP for "serious hobbyists" like me who offer decent tools at decent prices. Not to say your stuff isn't sufficient for professional use (I wouldn't know), just saying it tends to be a good value
Are Astro's tools USA made? Just wondering, thanks.
