As someone with experience repainting a similar Craftsman box, I'd say you did a great job. Always nice to see another box preserved.

I just notice where you are located. Those boxes really travel.

Very nice! Did you use pop rivets to replace the handles/hasps/name plate?

Thanks!
I use pop rivets on the badge, SS machine screws and nuts everywhere else. In those areas where the nuts are too thick and rub something, I grind/file them thin enough to pass.

The blue box belongs to my apprentice. The silver one is one I've had for 20 years and finally redid it.

Nice work!

Here are two of my Craftsman box resto's, B4 and after.

I was thinking to remove the handle and lock and put screw with nut but since I have dremal rotary device I was able to clean the locks

Thank you and I learned many things from your pictures

Also a great job! Looks brand new! I'd love to have that box and tote. My only concern with not removing the handle, hasps, and badge is the rust that could be lurking beneath them. On my Snap-On K-55W, there's little rust around the badge and hasps, but the area beneath them is pretty rusted. I assume moisture must get trapped in there somehow. I'd feel better removing everything, knowing I eliminated any rust.

My father has one just like that blue one. I am now going to see about gathering the remaining tools that were in that box as I grew up and doing a restore.

As a semi-veteran of toolbox restoration, I'd say you did a bang up job (nice work). The dremel really comes in handy polishing latches and around the handle base area's. I couldn't have finished any of the ones I did without a dremel.

I didn't know they came in blue.
When my apprentice got this box, he said he wanted it in bright blue. I said I didn't think that they originally came in that color. But, if that's what you want, it's your box.
It came out as probably the best box I ever redid.

It isn't blue, its the same model hammered steel/grey color. I'm going to see if its still there today.

Great job on the box and sweet older craftsman 3/4 set. Are the older craftsman tools very common in your country?
