MODEL#BG500GEX. Old new stock from Snap-On. 1/2 HP, 7" stones, USA made. I cannot find ANYTHING online about this, can anyone help? Seller wants $200, which I'm inclined to pay. All shields, paperwork etc...are there.

Thanks for the tip! I found the seller. I'm headed over there now. It's a trek for me but it's worth it.

Tried to get there tonight, no luck he's at the dentist. Tomorrow night. Teased him with vises. Oh, did i tell you he inherited a 'bunch of old vises' from his grandfather that he's interested in moving...

I'm meeting a guy over in Ellington tonight after his Dr. appointment that has one for sale also. Weird that two of these would show up?

That's a nice piece. I would turn it into a wire wheeling and buffing tool. Definitely a rare piece!!

Are you sure you wouldn't be just as happy with this? Plus you'd still have $180 left in your wallet!

Google reverse image lookup scares me too. If it's really good don't say anything.

Fine. I was going to drive the 30 hours (one way) up there to get it but I guess I'll let you have it...lol

I haven't been up there in 20 years (I was born in Worcester). Maybe someday I'll get back up there. Still have lots of family there.

So what you're saying is, that you have an army of people up here ready to jump his claim and drive the grinder down to you for a free week in a condo near Disney ? :lol_hitti

Wow! $200 bucks for that? Just look at it- It's uneven, must vibrate like crazy. what's this guy's number; that thing should be disposed of properly, I'll let him know.
By the way Joe, striper as in pinstriping, or striped bass? Just curious

You did the right thing. Believe me, you're spending your money well by asking.

Post pic and a review of it when you get it

What's the purpose of the right-hand wheel being extended out about a foot? Is it designed specifically for a certain application?

That is a nice grinder especially when it is in new condition. Too bad I am too far away, or I would get it.

It lets you work on longer pieces without hitting the motor, or having to hold the piece at awkward angles while grinding. Sweet !
Now if only Craftsman had made one of these in a Block Grinder. :lol_hitti

Not too sure about that---the motor is only 4 amp, which makes it a rather weak 1/2hp at best. Compare that to my Baldor and Rockwell Triple Duty, both 7" machines rated at 1/2hp, but draw 5.8A and 6.6A, respectively.

Better suited for light grinding or maybe a flap wheel. Surprising to see it rated for 7 inch wheels.

I just bought one of those on Kijiji. It was still in the box and never opened. The shipping label was from 1984. Great little grinder for chisels as I can set the guides fairly steep. I'm going to send in the product registration card just for shits and giggles.

The Eagle has landed! He said he had some inquiries today....:wtf: but he didn't respond...I'll post pics later. Brand new in the box, cord still in factory coil, parts still in their bags.
