I'm so jealous when i see these cool grinders that you guys have found on CL for such great deals. The CL ads for grinders in MN ****, and being married with four kids puts quite a limit on my budget.

Worth about $20 if you need something today to tide you over until you find something nice.

Switch the wheels so the grinding wheel has the tool rest.

Picked up another Milwaukee grinder, a 1/2 HP.

I needed the tool rests for the 1 HP Milwaukee, the LH one has been fitted to the 1 HP already.

Tedsters: I guess i wasn't having a Senior moment after all. nice grinder(s) you posted tonight. both worthy of praise.

TM: nice assist and that cartoon was funny as heck too. so you bought a nice Milwaukee 1/2 HP just for the parts to complete your 1HP Milwaukee? that will rock when you get it fired up and you might want to give it it's own circuit breaker in the garage.

Happy New Year to all the fellow grinder fans and their families!

Tedster - I had no plans on moving the Beast (aka - 1 HP Rockwell) from it's resting place in the back seat of the pick-me-up.
FIP1080287.jpg

Until, my daughter ask to borrow it last night (the truck, not the Beast - don't worry) to take all 3 couples out in the same vehicle [designated driver, of course].

So, it is in the garage (the Beast, not the truck. No room for a truck :lol_hitti); with the promise it will be back in the truck in time for our meetup. Ooops, maybe the wrong icon to use so early on new years day.

driveit - A dedicated circuit, .... hmmmm , re-wire for 230 Volts, hmmmmm :headscrat, repaint RED of course, hmmmmmmmm ...., name it Fire Devil! :FIREdevil

Better install a dead-man's foot switch! :willy_nil

Wow, that a lot of Smilies, I'm getting dizzy and I didn't even drink last night. Sorry .... :p

Tedster - I hereby publicly proclaim, swear, and promise to turn the Beast over to you. No, really ....! You can trust me, just don't tempt me too long. I'm only human.

Another maze shuffler. :D Makes you wonder if most of us actually consider how much space we have, realistically, before keep buying all this old kit. :D

I just keep telling myself that "it's bigger on the inside".
(hey, it could happen. :dunno:)

Thank you torqueman for picking the grinder up for me and meeting me halfway to my home with it was a pleasure to meet you, well the grinder was wired for 220 current is a 115v 230v dual voltage wire was tore right out of it and as you can see the right lamp shade is completely messed up and the left can be easily fixed and i maybe able to fix the right one the cast base is nice just needs blasting and paint, the big thing that i was worried about was does it run....well i wired it for 115v plugged in and no noise nothing smelled burnt so i started looking things over seems i got a bad GFI wall plug plugged it into another cord and this thing runs great, and if i can't fix the light properly i have a pair of donors if i need them, this is gonna be a nice grinder 1725rpm's and the wheels are down to about 7inches unplugged it thing wound down for

You have a darn good eye, my friend. I didn't give the CL ad a 2nd look.

And you should know, you are nominated for GJ's 2014 Negotiator Award.

My Grand-dad made this, probably in the 40's. He was a very gifted mechanic and during WW2 He was in charge of a group of German POWS, who He supervised as they rebuilt Tank and vehcile engines. He was also a shop foreman for IH and FARMALL, and often worked on Indians, and Harleys. I used to play with this as a kid, grinding 16 penny nails to make knives, and gerally getting in the way. I inherited all His tools and couldnt bring Myself to toss this. I cut off the old black and white cotton covered cord, so I wouldnt be tempted to plug it in. I may need a new belt, too.

Love the over-engineered spark arrestors. One bolt just wasn't enough!

does anyone know a close paint match for the motor on the bench and pedestal

:D Always wondered why the Tardis never got nicked by a bloke wanting it for his shed, in the series. :D If the Doctor plonked that around here, it'd be on a hiab and in some blokes back garden within the hour. He'd be finding a full workshop and more in there if he ever got it back. :D

Tedsters: why not paint your new grinder a John Deere green and yellow or Red instead of the battleship grey? your tool your color and it might make it easier to find in your shop until you get it organized.

Fretters: i have to read your posts about 5 times to figure out what you said and i'm not sure if i have it right yet. are you getting planted in the garden and somebody's getting to use your shed? :D

ALL: another member emailed me a few pictures of his grinder he's doing a total restoration on and he is having a huge problem removing the bearings. the one bearing he's tried to take off actually broke. I don't have all the specs on the grinder and i think he's going to start a thread, but thought this was interesting. anybody ever have this issue and any ideas on how to remove and replace the bearings?

Nah. :D Not watched Doctor Who as such for years, (Tom Baker was the Doctor when I last watched it), but the Tardis, (which Jake posted a picture of), is one of the old Police phone boxes, probably less than 6' square externally. He just makes it appear and then leaves it unattended in the middle of anywhere whilst he goes off on one of his japes. With it being outside of the whole space/time continuum thing though, (or some such thing), internally it's bleedin' huge. Perfect shed. :D It honestly wouldn't be there for five minutes after he made it appear, if it really existed. Somebody would have that loaded onto the back of a lorry and gone before he'd even made it out of sight on foot. :D There'd be some bloke with a shed in his back garden which would be the envy of every bloke on Earth. :D

I need a Tardis with a 3 meter wide door so I can park 10 cars in there!
