Hello, Happy New Year. I don't get on here much. But I always look for vintage J H Williams vintage tools. I am from Buffalo, NY. My Grand Father worked there in the 50's and early 60's.

I have many tools from him and my Father handed down to me. I lost my Dad when I was young. So to this day I still use these hand tools.

I don't have any pictures right now. But I can easily take some. I am hesitant to ebay some of these. I am a part time ebayer.

If I see any response I can take some cool pictures Like the old 19/32" size wrench. I don't ever recall using that on any nut or bolt in the past 40 years.

Thanks,
Marty in Buffalo, NY

I, for one, am looking forward to viewing any pics you can post. I have no J H Williams tools (at least I cannot recall any).

Hello, here is a picture of the Anniversary Employee wrench.
Compare size next to the $ bill.
And I went out into the cold Garage and pulled a few Williams tools out of my box. I'll show that pile also.
When I have time I will break down and take some Individual pictures.
All tools well over 50-60 years old! Some older!
Talk about Good Ol' American Quality!
There is 1 - 13/16 socket that I used for spark Plugs since I was a kid taking out the spark plug on my mini bike when I was 10 yrs old. I have used this socket ever since. On over 10 motorcycles Jap and HD.
You can see the chrome is wore off down to the copper plate.

You have some beauties in there! Very cool anniversary key chain. Any Vulcan stuff in your stash? Welcome to the GJ!
WOW! God Bless You and your new heart! True Words of Wisdom!

I did have a couple of Vulcan laying around. Big 12" adjustable. A 1 1/2" socket that I only used 5 or 6 times in 40 years. It fits the front compensating sprocket nut on my Shovelhead Harley.
And 2 small makers "C" clamps. they have JH Williams on 1 side and Vulcan on other. Pt# 202

I also see the 3/8" drive swivel in another picture was Vulcan.
I do know that Vulcan was a spin off name. I can't confirm this! But! This JH Williams factory was located on the corner of Vulcan Street and Kenmore Road. Right at the City of Bflo; and Town of Tonawanda line.
This was just about 300 yards down from the Tonawanda Chevy engine plant.
Maybe that is why they named them "Vulcan" tools.

I am on a roll now! Here are a couple more unique items.
All old school stuff!
Ignition wrench set. Ask anyone under 40 or 50 what are a set of points and a condensor.
And the swivel set, the 1/2" socket has the chrome worn off from using that over the years.
And only 2 crow's foot sockets.

Speaking of Motorcycles. These 2 tire irons have "DUNLAP" STAMPED INTO THEM.
I beleive Williams forged stuff for DUNLAP?
And these 2 irons will not bend or break until the end of time and me of course!
I have used these and lent them to friends for over 40 years.
No one could make these nowadays! At any price!
I love them! They are about 20" long.

Adjustable wrench's Here are 2 - 4", 1 is stamped. The other must have been in the scrap pile. Or made it out in a lunch box during production.

And this 6" was made for Craftsman. Other side says craftsman.
The side in picture has a small JW stamped in it.

Couple other goodies, stud remover, slot whatevers? 8 point square sockets

I have a few Williams pieces scattered around, but what I'm most proud of is my Obstruction wrenches. Made 1927 to around 1945.

I've had a bunch of older wrenches and ratchets and they've all been made well. Unfortunately, most of what comes in my door has to go back out and from the resale standpoint I haven't really found it to be worth my time unless it is a complete set of something.

1 more for awhile. 14" Aluminum pipe wrench super light weight.
Back in about 1975-76. I let a neighbor borrow a 36" aluminum pipe wrench to get his main drain cap open. And I never seen it again (Stupid Me).
And the small pipe gripper, very handing on cast iron and gas pipe!

Really? What makes you think so?

All the Dunlap tires levers I've seen have been made in England.

Maybe some confusion over "Dunlap" versus "Dunlop". I believe Dunlap was a Sears brand name for some tools while Dunlop is the tire company. Perhaps the tire irons actually say Dunlop rather than Dunlap, the OP can clarify.

You never know though, perhaps they do say Dunlap. What is interesting is that the first Dunlop (now Goodyear/Dunlop) tire plant in the US is literally around the corner from the former JH Williams Plant so you never know.

Oops, you are quite right!

I am quite sure the OP's tire lever actually says "DUNLOP". And it is these DUNLOP tire irons that I have always know as being made in England...

Here is mine:

Sorry 100%, DUNLAP!! NO IDEA WERE THEY WERE MADE? Just speculating.
Tire irons have DUNLAP with an "A" with a tiny square or diamond stamped very light in the middle.
There was also red paint about 4 inches down the top sides of irons. ??
I know what DUNLOP tires are, I have them on 1 of my motorcycles.
I could not get a good picture of the stamp in iron.
I will try again for a upclose picture

Well how about that?
Then I guess it's certainly possible that JH Wiiliams made the Dunlap levers for Sears - especially if you've seen matching JH Williams-branded levers. JH Williams is certainly known to have produced tools for the Craftsman brand.

I'm in West Seneca and go to as many estates and garage sales to look for the Williams tools. One of the best tools made. You have some nice stuff there.

Took another pic.
DUNLAP with a square with a "N" inside the square.
First time I looked for any markings in the past 42 years.
I hope this pic works well.
Other pic is an original DUNLOP GOLDSEAL OEM tire from a 1973 Z1 Kawasaki.
I had this on 1 of my Drag Bikes in the late 70's
Thanks.

How about a long pattern, raised panel Superrench? These are the only 2 I've come across, really don't know anything about them.

Vintage, eh?

Ok . . .

I have an old Williams open end wrench in 5/8" x 3/4" - British Standard:

I hang on to it just because it is bigger than the largest wrench in my Whitworth/British Standard set.

I think that wrench may be U.S.S. (U.S. Standard), the old measuring system before SAE. Seen it on a lot of old open ends.

Some really neat tools. I recall my dad having a small set of ignition wrenches. I think they took a walk after he passed. I set the points on many cars and timed them with a light. Always had a set of points and a coil in the trunk...just in case. Leaky

I am looking for an older Williams combination wrench. BXOE 32 which is a 1". The Williams is in a rectangular box on each side and the wrench is in the black or dark industrial finish. I love these wrenches and have a complete set except the one inch.

Here is my Williams Master Mechanics set #55 that I picked up at an estate sale. I have not found an exact match in any of their old catalogs yet, so I'm dating it on the tapered socket design per A.A., at 1930's ish. Not 100% complete, but around 90% I believe. I need a tool list from a Complete #55 set to be sure, If anyone has one. I have allot more Williams tools scattered around so I may be able to make up what is missing, except for the missing (h-150) drive plug.

Here are some old receipts from my Grand Father from 1954 & 1957.
He worked at Williams. These must have been tools he bought for my Dad. These were in my Dad's personal collection of stuff. Lost my Dad in 1972.
Looks like employees got 50% off.
I like the single picture, a P-10 punch and a C 80 pinch bar cost $2.69 less 1/2.
Total of $1.36! How about the 1 cent tax.

Here you go. Unfortunately there is no date stamp of any kind that I can see on my catalog.

Here are a couple of plain chrome-alloy, 15/16 & 7/8 # 3033A. And THE "SUPERWRENCH". The smaller one is 25/32 & 11/16 # 3029. I believe these were from the War Era. When they did not use the plating materials?
