I know that for pretty much everything there is an enthusiast community... well anyway I kind of destroyed the cheap plastic fan my girlfriend had in her kitchen - I took it apart to clean it and the plastic speed selector switch kind of disintegrated when I did so. So I found an old (50s?) Hunter table fan to replace it. Difficulty: while it was advertised as working, it is only marginally so. It looks like someone already 'restored' it and while it looks nice the motor is bound up and draggy. It'll run on high speed with the case screws loose but you can hear it slow down as you tighten them. I'm assuming there's resources out there, any pointers?
