Sears is completely and utterly ******* useless. I went in there because I had $15 in points and thought I might pick something up. I went in there, looked for 35 minutes and absolutely nothing was worth buying. It is amazing that a store can give me $15 and have nothing worth buying even for free. I am just gonna go to kmart and buy some toilet paper.

I placed an order online with them this fall.
They took the money (PayPal) and cancelled my order because I used a coupon to get a really good price. No reason given and we had to fight for a couple weeks to get our money back from them. Their website is a wreck too.

Place is being run into the ground by idiots.

Second to their website being a wreck. I was ready to pull the trigger on a mid ticket purchase via layaway.. have the money to buy outright from a number of retailers, but figured I'd buy from Sears as the price difference was negligible...

No dice. Called 800 number, same. Shame such an iconic American retailer is such a failure.

What will happen to the Craftsmen line when Sears finally is history?

+1! I still stop in every month ir two and there is always something to get in that price range. Heck a few weeks ago I bought a made in USA straight and angled pick for $4. And they gave me a free 9/16 crafstman wrench for making a tool purchase.

They have Hansen socket organizers fir around $10 or less.

I usually don't post in these threads but my local Sears is about to close it's doors for the last time. I went in there and picked up a few things when I heard they were going out of business. It is going to be weird to not have a Sears around. Even our local K-Mart closed it doors about a year ago.

It is kind of amazing how many of us just have sentimental value in Craftsman/ Sears. They were an American icon that just completely fell apart.

Not only their tools but their service as well. Bought a brand new, relatively high-end dish washer and had problems. Called the warranty number - Sears is the only one that can service it under warranty. The soonest they could schedule the repairs was 7 weeks! The dishwasher went back to the store! Cant remember the last time I was that pissed.

Ticks me off that we had a really good sears hardware by me that was closed after the merger with KMart. They moved the entire inventory to the local k mart after the merger. Took about a year or two befor all the tools that were moved form the sears hardware was sold off and they are now have way lest crafstman tools at the KMart than the local ace hardware has.

Both of the Sears tool sections in my area are still well stocked.

I also scope out ace hardware store whenever I get in one because some of them still have the old made in USA tools. I picked up a made in USA crafstman torque wrench on black friday for $17.

Your signature says you don't give a **** where tools are made. But that is a big part of the reason Sears is going out of business and why so many people are on welfare or need assistance. It's something like 50% of Americans need help, American companies don't have the same assistance unless they are buddies with some one or a "green" start up. Come on, at the very least there's gotta be some consumable items you could use.. How about a roll of duct tape, a bottle of Titebond glue, AA batteries, 12' extension cord, gardening/leather work gloves, 400 grit sand paper, new shop vac filter.....

Those are just a few of the things I could use right now out in my shop, many of which are probably for sale at any Sears. Maybe you should go take another look.

Sears closing has nothing to do with tools. The service *****, the website *****, etc. because Sears is coming apart at the seams... not the reason for it. Sears is going out of business because the franchise as a whole (where there are many relevant departments to their bottom line outside tools) has not adapted to modern retail at all and the trends nor invested any money in their stores to even attempt it.

I know, I know... e-commerce is big. But Sears has all their capital in physical stores and they need to make them work. The site problems people have are not a big deal in the scheme of things, at this point in time.

I went in their the other day with $200 to blow. Couldn't find a freaking thing. Picked up the digital torque wrench on sale, put it back. Picked up the serpentine belt kit, put it back. All Chinese ****. I can get channel locks at Walmart or home depot. The ratchets are over priced. Especially when the store isnt going to be around in a few years. There was one wrench set I decided if they had it, I was going to buy. But after the reset they did away with the.

actually I agree with the OP. Ratchets = imported garbage, vise grips - even the Irwin ones are imports now, I'll stick with the stash of Petersons I have, thanks. They theoretically sell Knipex and Channellock but I've hit several different stores in my area and only one had anything of either of those two brands I didn't already have (I am tempted by the Knipex pliers though.)

So unless you have a well stocked store, I dunno what you'd buy. Maybe inventory my sockets and see if there's any loose stock ones I could use while they are still old USA made ones.

Mine does have some knipex but they don't do much for me. I did have some things in mind when I headed there but they did not have any nut drivers left and they raised the price of their bit socket set.
