anybody else like the red and black pros? ive been piecing a collection together from leftover stock. my sears is cleaned out other than a few torx drivers but what they did have was on clearance cheap, kmart has none and ace hardware is getting thin but still full price like up to 15 bucks each for longs. I bought 1 of everything I could find local, ebay has even more crazy prices on individual and sets. what ya got and how ya like them?

I think the CMAN pros were nice for readily available drivers but not anything that I woukd scour the world for. Good but not great, I greatly prefer hex shaft heavy duty drivers.

The CM Pros are my favorite! I pieced together a full set about a month ago. I ended up going to 4 different Sears in 1 day. I bought doubles of drivers that I use a lot and made sure I had a full set of Torx. I also have the stubby drivers which are tough to find. Just keep on it. They come up on sears.com every once in a while when they find dead stock.

I think they are a good mix of availability, price, quality and warranty. I preferred the black handle pro's but... I will use them till they die. Any new screwdriver purchases are going to be Wiha.

Are these significantly nicer than Williams? I've only used the regular Cman... really like the black handle Williams by comparison.

I wasn't aware they were going away? They can still be purchased under the SK brand (Cushion Grip). Identical drivers in every way except color.

I sold an all black set on ebay for crazy money a while back, I have a clear handled set from the 80's or 90's that are the best screwdrivers I have ever had my hands on!

I know they're not what you're looking for, but the new USA made kobalts look nice too.
Might be worth checking out. Still readily available, with a warranty.

They're hard handles with striking caps.

I have a couple 24" Cman pros that have always done me right. But for the record if I was going to sk for them I would just buy their good ole green hard handles. Boy do I love the ones I have left from my toolset as a kid.

I really like the red/black handled Cman Pros!! I don't exactly scour the earth looking for them, but I do keep a lookout for them whenever I'm in a Sears, Ace Hardware or Kmart. Have gotten a pretty diverse set put together over the past year or so.

Sears made another bone-head move when they discontinued these screwdrivers.

At this point if you dont have any dont waist your time buying them. Screwdrivers need to be replaced often enuff to need a warranty...so soft intincts blow the cp away esp 2 Phillips with the acr

I'm curious what's the warranty deal with these? I assume just get your money back?

They can't replace it with any like item.

I liked the red and black ones very much. Have about 25 of them and they were my go to set. My Snap-on set of about 15 were my backup. Not because the Craftsman are better, but because I found them as good, and easier to warranty. Now, I would not put any effort into obtaining them. As another said and I 100% agree, screwdrivers are consumables..Since they can no longer be replaced easy...why bother? I will likely sell them on ebay next year to some "collector" type with a hard-on for them and replace them with with aa brand that has good support. Maybe add to the Snap-On set or get a Williams set.

They are okay I guess. I just bought a felo set for $26 and I am loving the way they feel a lot more. I'll probably sell my red and black cman pros at some point.

Yep, SK Cushion Grip and Craftsman Pro's are identical.

SK is owned by Ideal.....which also owns Western Forge (who makes 85% of the Made in USA screwdrivers). They make all of Craftsman's screwdrivers & most of the other companies that are not imported.

I think the SK color scheme looks better....they feel 100% identical in your hand.

I put together a nearly complete set of these when they were being clearanced but still fairly easy to find. I think for the cost/quality ratio they are (or rather were) hard to beat. Not the best screwdrivers in the world, but pretty damn good at a reasonable price and US made to boot. Mine have held up quite well after about a year, haven't broken one or worn any out yet. Only sign of wear is the gold lettering is coming off. Handles are comfortable and easy to clean, tips are pretty robust.

Sadly I missed the boat on the stubby torx set. I got the full set of standard length torx, as well as standard length and up in slotted and Philips. As has been mentioned, SK cushion grips are identical save the color scheme. I actually filled out my missing slotted/Philips, as well as a long #3 Philips on SK Day. I've also seen the same drivers in blue/black branded as Armstrong. Not sure if they're discontinued, but they are still out there (example: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AE...SX200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=51cNavy5e5L&ref=plSrch)

I miss all the CM-Pro screwdrivers that were discontinued before the black and red CM-Pro screwdrivers were discontinued; the ones with the firm black rubber handles. Wish I knew who made them.

I have every craftsman pro screwdriver minus the Torx and I seldom use them. The ones that see the most use and are handy are the stubby's with the regular length handles. I'll probably sell the sets I have and upgrade to Wera's for back ups to my snap on's. I wouldn't go searching for the craftsman's, they're just not that worth it compared to other options out there.

Mine are my go to set, got all the screwdrivers at sale price, so maybe $50 in the whole set. Filled them out with the SK stubby set and just got the SK Torx set since I never needed them when they were available as CM Pros. Definitely love that they're labeled on the ends, so it makes it extremely quick to grab the right driver out of the tool bag.

they were made by Western Forge

(that is what the WF on the handle signifies)

I had a pile of the blach handled ones. I'm 99% it was the same shafts as the regular clear handle except with a black oxide coating...

Yeah. most of the all black ones were made in Murphy, NC in what is now a snap-on plant. Must have had bad theft control, because at the local flea markets near there you find plies of them. It has been a long time since they were made, so most of the popular sizes are gone at the fleas, but you can buy whats left for 50 cents each brand new. I have some and think they are pretty marginal quality.

I also have the red/black pros and love them. I do worry about replacement however, mine are starting to wear.

They have the hex on the shaft like the snap ons do. I might try to swap SO blades into them if the size is close.

When I was looking for a nicer set than my Kobalts, I chose Williams over these. Saw the Torx set for like $5 a few months back and decided I'd rather have too many Torx drivers than not enough. It's only the size you need that's lost/broken anyway right?

I picked up the Husky Pro version of the drivers as a generic gift to whoever. I prefer those handles but I prefer the Williams/Felo/Wiha that I own to all of them. Even the Wera handles are better actually.

There was an employee outlet store you could buy tools for pennies on the dollar. Not just the ones made at that factory either.

IIRC the one that was open to the public was only blem/seconds/refurbs. The one inside the plant is the one I'm talking about.

This is a great question.

simple answer tho - depends on the store. Policy is replace for like, if no like (no longer available) I was told no warranty. After a bit of discussion they relented to they would exchange for the closest they carried. I have a couple of damaged prybars, a rolling wedge and a flat/point. They told me to bring it in (it was in the trunk of my car and I was heading out of the mall from shopping in another store) and pick the closest off the wall.
In the end I declined because the only thing they had on the wall was the adjustable angle extendible rolling wedge pry bars which wouldn't do the same job. Mine was damaged but I make do.
