Looking to buy Snap-On Tool Box - Help me find one

Hello friends. I'm in the market for a used KRL box for the home garage, something like a 722 or 7022. I'm keeping my options open since I am looking on the secondary market after all, but the one thing I don't want to compromise on is the color...red. Anyway, I have had my eye on craigslist and ebay for a little while now and have not seen anything that matches my criteria in my area (DFW). I'm actually a little suprised at how few red boxes I see for sale. Does anyone in the DFW area have contact info they could share with me for a good local dealer that wouldn't mind dealing with a non-professional? Thanks.

Drop by a local shop and ask about their dealers, not just Snap on. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Agree with crewchief. Green, blue and black seem to be the standard of tool boxes these days, replacing the long tradition of Red. See if you can get in contact with a truck in your area, they might run across a trade in box.

Harbor Freight has a swell line of toolboxes, including those for the professional. At a mere fraction of the Snap On price!

Not sure if serious. :headscrat:

I looked hard at the HF 56", but ultimately for me I want the Snap-On box. My collection of snap-on tools is slowly growing, and I'd like to have one of their boxes to put them in.

in my early days of wrenching i tried boxes from mac, matco & SO
the only boxes that seemed to be worth the extra money (over CM and kennedy, that had literally fallen apart) were SO.

i have 3 sets of SO boxes in the garage, as well as 3 side boxes.
only one set that arent traditional red, a set of cranberry limited edition 90th aniversary harley/SO
another SO side box is the base/leg for my desk
SO roller in the basement, as well as vintage PLVMB and CM top boxes.

i have CM, lyons and mac boxes in my service truck

They're out there. Over the years, watching craigslist and estate sales, I've picked up two double stack, one triple stack, one roll cab and one top box, all mostly red/patina.

There are several KRL boxes on CL in my area including a Red 722 in new condition with stainless top. Asking $2500 obo Maybe you should expand your search area and travel a bit.

There's a GJ member that often posts KRL double bank roll cabs on the DFW Clist. They've always looked to be in very nice condition and priced quite reasonable. I don't seem to notice many of them in the standard red color. Still, there have been some nice deals on SO KRL roll cabs in the DFW area if you decide to deviate from red.

If you ever make it to the Roswell or Ruidoso NM area, or just up for a "road trip", I have a very nice KRL722 for sale. I was not able to link the info, but it is listed under Roswell craigslist, (Snap on tool box) with pictures.

I see them on the Houston CL a lot .. Expand your search area to Austin and Houston and you will most likely find what you are looking for.

Thanks to this message board and Badger 13 I was able to get exactly what I was looking for. It was a long road trip, but well worth it. Please excuse the garage pic. I am in the middle of selling a house and moving.

That box is beautiful. Looks perfect. I really like the 722. Its not as deep as the 7022, right?

No, nobody knows this. Matco works very hard at keeping the secret that the rebadged Snap-On boxes at HF are just as good as Matco boxes.
