What are you using as a fire stoker

Lets see your fire stokers, i have recently installed a new wood stove and I need to fabricate something to stoke the fire. The chunks on the left are a few pieces of Coke I picked up along the RR tracks.

The only thing I use is a small pokerl from a fireplace set my FIL bought us when we moved into our first home.

I have just a basic steel one that was here when I bought the place, typical one, about 32"-36" long and a loop on the handle end.

a fireplace poker for the small wood stove in my living room and an old tire spoon about 2' long for the wood oil furnace downstairs.stubborn logs get beat into the furnace with a sledgehammer

That's nice to know and if I remember correctly, you work for CSX. I have a buddy in Galion that is CSX railroad police and my step-brother recently got hired on as a conductor.(Willard)



BTW, if you'd rather not fabricate something yourself, there is another guy, that works for the city, who does some blacksmithing stuff. He lives up on N. Sandusky across from Cooper's Mill.

over fired the wood furnace in garage again but 85 - 90 feels good when you first walk in from the cold

That looks like a pretty big stove in the barn mine is just a small one but it works okay for temps in the teens.
