Hi all,
I am a first time poster and getting ready to build a 26x36 garage. The foundation is supposed to be poured toward the end of this week and then I will poost pictures of the progress of the build. Anyway I ran across these http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...70319422780&_rdc=1&viewitem=&salenotsupported on ebay and bought all 12 the guy had for $5 ea. He is local and deliverying them to me today for an additional $45 so the total will be $105 for the 12 of them. I know they are open in the back so i might have to weld some tabs to the back to attach them to the wall but thought they looked like they might be pretty good cabinets to use. I am planning on using 7 across the top row and then 5 on a second row across the fron 26' wall. Has anyone had any experience with these cabinets which are actually made for office cubicals. Just wanted some thoughts as I havent seen them yet.

99% sure they'll have tabs sticking out the back to hang with slotted rail. I'm thinking you'll probably be able to just bend those tabs in 90 degrees and drill through them to hang. the ones i just stuck my head in at work actually have the tabs as a single sheet of metal with the sides/ends so it should be plenty sturdy.

Great deal .. I tried to buy some of these cabinets from the company I used to work for and they said no .. the back is open, but since it is butted up against the wall, it's not a problem. They are pretty heavy though ..

Bigboar I cant remember who it was but I know there is a member here who used those in his garage and loves them . I dont think you can go wrong for the price. I would recomend looking on your local craigslist for some lower metal kitchen cabinets from the 50's & 60's. I placed an add on my local craigslist saying I was looking for them and 3 weeks later had a guy call me and tell me he had some if I wanted them . I ended up with more than enough upper and lower cabinets to do my whole garage with and the only investment I have in them is the gas to go pick them up plus the time to prep and repaint them. ( I still have cabinets I havent painted yet :D ).

Good idea!! I did just buy 6 of the sears heavy duty shelves listed on here though and was going to make a 24' work bench out of them instead of using them as tall shelving units.I was then going to use the peg board in between the uppers and workbench across the legth. I never thought of the old metal kitchen cabinets...
