Sales Tax on the Snap On Website

I was wondering if anybody else had noticed this. I was on the Snap-On website pricing out a long 14" ratcheting wrench (XDHRM14). It's priced on the website for $57.75. When I put the item in my cart, the website calculates a sales tax of $7.51 or 13%. This is higher than sales tax in any state, and definitely higher than the tax where I live in Virginia.

Any thoughts?

Weird.

Normally they need to pit sales taxes if they have a store in your state. Otherwise no tax...

Probably an error, call them and ask. I have paid sales tax when I buy online, but it's at my states 9.25%

For me it changes. Did you notice it was different after you ordered?

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback.

I haven't placed the order yet. I just noticed it when I added something to my cart. It filled out my address from my account profile and calculated a tax.

The last time I ordered I did pay sales tax but it was like 7 or 8% not 13%

Makes me think that your ISP router or dongle or whatever the ISP you are using is going thru a state that is not where you live.
And obviously, your low quoted tax vs high VA tax proves that. As that is indeed true. But prolly a third sate. Hmmm.

Sounds like you need to suss out where your ISP's last signal goes into teh SO site from.

As for me, it;s whatthe state tax is. No muss. No fuss.

Well, unless you try and f*&^the system.

I had that thought initially, but no state has a sales tax rate as high as 13%.

In Harris County Texas, a mobile tool truck is considered a business just like a B&M store.
