So I'm going to be buying a Millermatic 211 this week and wanted to get some input from those of you who have been doing this for a while.

I need to buy:
1. Inert gas tank
2. Spool gun (for aluminum)
3. Welding cart
4. Good jacket and pants
5. Welding mask

Optional:
1. Welper

I get $100 off any miller accessories that I buy at the same time so I wanted to get your recommendations for anything else I should get.

Tank of 75/25 and a tank of argon if you want to do both steel and aluminum off the bat. A spool or two of wire, a 11lb spool of 0.030" ER-70 and a small spool of aluminum for your spool gun.

A 4.5" angle grinder if you don't already have one.

Can't think of anything from Miller though unless you want one of their overpriced portable work stations.

A lot depends on how you intend to use this welder, as a hobbyist or as a business.
1. Get a good sized tank, again hobbyist or pro?
2. I got one with my M180 several years ago, never have used it (I have a tig for AL)
3. See what accessories you will have to hang on it.
4. Again, hobbyist or pro?
5. Presume you mean helmet, suggest mid to upper class auto darken.

Hobby for now, but I wanted to have the option for business if I wanted to later on. And you're right, definitely meant helmet.

Dedicated welding tools...this is stuff you will want to keep at hand for all welding tasks, and you can pretty much do anything you need to with it.

4.5 inch grinder. Better yet, two of them. Grinding wheels, cutting wheels, flap discs, and some wire wheels. You can get by with one but more grinders means being able to leave them dedicated to one task.

Welpers. channellock makes some good ones. Also a few pairs of vise grips of the various types (normal and clamp) and some normal style channellocks for picking up hot metal so you don't burn your hands.

Layout tools- soap stone, squares, level, tape measure

Hammer- I have a 2.5 lb cross pein that is my absolute favorite over any kind of other hammer.

An assortment of clamps, magnets, and such for holding stuff so you can weld it.

Steel to make a welding table, which will likely be your first project. You'll want a heavy duty welding table with a vise on it.

For personal welding gear I favor a Fibre Metal tigerhood or pipeliner with a passive shade 10 lens (for some reason I can see the puddle a lot better with them vs. even an expensive autodarkening lens), a Uvex Bionic clear face shield for grinding, a Uvex Bionic 5.0 IR face shield for torch use, earplugs to keep the spatter out of your ear canal when doing overhead and protect your hearing during grinding, a welding cap, good quality welding gloves (black stallion has been very, very good to me) safety glasses, a leather welding jacket, jeans, and good leather steel toe boots.

Get good Welding wire. Don't get the stuff from Harbor freight. Got gloves and a jacket from my local welding shop and am very happy
