If you want that style vise get a Yost, import but it's 60,000 PSI ductile iron and wont break like that one.

nah, stick with a classic old USA made vise from craigslist or ebay - if you must have a new vise (and I don't know why you would), get a USA made Yost or Morgan.

Imported vises are really only for someone starting out who is struggling to come up with $50, and even they should be scouring craigslist for a used USA built bargain. There have been NO technological improvements in vises in the last 100 years!

this vise would be good for light work , i cant see it holding up to heavy use the material its made out of just isn't as strong as the usa made vises

Yeah just find am old heavy one like a wilton.
A old Wilton bullet will cost you at least twice what an equally good old vise from another great brand would, due to their collectibility, which you may not want to pay for.

look for names like Prentiss, Reed, Parker, Morgan, Yost, Columbian, Rock Island, Columbian, Athol (Starrett), Hollands, American Scale, Littlestown, Erie, Record (British), Craftsman, Ridgid, Desmond Stephan, Monarch (Prentiss), and Canedy - that's most of the important ones.

we had a vise like this at work only difference it was orange it cracked around the set screw area where it swiveled , then it was nothing more than scrap metal , you cant beat the quality of the old usa made vises.
