There was a sale a while back, we were buying them for $48 shipped. They are nice grinders and that is still a good deal.
Are those recons? The others were new.

I regret not making it to the sale in time. Some people seem to be complaining about the quick change feature but I'm sure its a good grinder.

I admit I don't like the quick change as much as the regular threaded ones, but they had both at the $48, at least these ones don't seem to be the quick change.
I've looked at that one before, but it states that is has reduced spindle speed for working with stainless(7000 RPM). Will the reduction of 3000-4000 RPM make a huge difference if working with regular mild or CroMo steel?

The other ones are 10k RPM. I guess spinning slower may be detrimental on regular steel, but not sure, I have never tried it.

No.
It just keeps from getting stainless too hot.
Reduction of speed - I have a variable Makita which I turn down for wire brushing and sanding/blending. It's especially good for removing paint because it reduces heat build up, cutting it rather than mooshing it around. I also have a couple Fein grinders, which are excellent except for their dinky and smooth side handle. I'm tempted to pick up this 5"

I have the ones with the quick change feature as well as one that is just the regular 5/8-11 threaded shaft.
For a regular grinding wheel I love the quick change feature. For versalitity it *****.
So I use just grinding wheels on the QC grinders and the wire wheels, sanding discs, etc go on the regular ones
