I need to buy some windows for my house/garage remodel. Are any of the Big Box store windows any good? Say from Lowes or Menards? My local choices are ReliaBilt, Pella, Crestline, and Jeld-Wen. I'm downsizing windows slightly so i wont need any custom ordered windows.

I went with Pella replacements from Lowes a couple of years back on several of the remaining windows that weren’t done by the previous owner. Comes with screens, tilt in for cleaning, the usual. I believe they were 28x38s and like $117 each. I thought for the money it was a damn good window, but I am sure others with more experience will chime in.

Same as above, I replaced all my house windows and a patio door with JELD-WEN. No issues or complaints at all. I ordered them through home depot. The house windows I had ordered and put in through a contractor. I put the windows in my sunroom. It didn't cost that much more to have the windows or patio door ordered with the argon gas. The sunroom windows and door came on nice 2"x4" skids. I don't have any experience with them beyond that.

They are decent windows and when installed correctly do a good job, even in the house. Local builders here use them in almost all spec built homes.

Price is right.

Same here and usually around tax time they do a 15% off deal. Couple that with the energy credit and the windows are damn near half off.

One word of caution is to thoroughly inspect the windows before leaving and especially starting the job. The jackasses stacked 18 windows flat on the pallet. I had 5 broken ones on the bottom and 1 broken frame which I didnt see until the old window was torn out and I unwrapped the new one. Clearly labeled to not stack flat, but apparently that doesnt apply to morons
