Has anyone used these spanners? I really like the look of them, the design is different to most. The reversing button looks like it could be accidentally reversed when in tight spaces, surely stahlwille would of thought of this?

The button on the side is a Kabo design. Like Hazets they're made in Taiwan to match their distinctive wrench forgings.

No, made in Taiwan. Only German made "modern" ratcheting wrenches are Gedore UR7.

Stahlwille make about 98% of their tools in Germany. For some reason they don't make these, and they don't make the ratcheting ring spanners either, which are made in the U.S.

I believe that the Saltus are manufactured in Germany also!

Just checked my Saltus and they clearly say "Germany"

Now, I know there are companies that name themselves "ACME Germany" or suchlike, and get around it that way, but I just don't think that Saltus are that sort of firm. Some of mine (I didn't buy 'em all at the same time) are marked "Solingen Germany" so I reckon they are made there!

The bits that most firms seem to buy in are the ratcheting inserts, and these are the parts that Saltus seem to specialise in anyway!

Not hijacking this thread i hope....could you add pictures of the saltus wrenches? I have a bunch of saltus tools, including a 1/4 socket set i think have a "overseas" feeling to it,i have contacted saltus 2 times about where it is made, but no answer from them,so i am suspicious about some of their products.

Man, if Gedore would make a set of wrenches in a reasonably long pattern with a 12 point box at one end and a reversible ratcheting mechanism on the other, I might have to look into selling organs...

Well, okay, two sets. I still need SAE for my Jeep.

Old rumor mainly due to Armstrong and Gearwrench since they were so similar. Snap-On mechanisms are mini dual 80 designs so its theirs, likewise Gedore is using a variation of their U20 ratchet. The latter is 100% made in Germany.

They have XL combos, I've looked at them a few times but keep talking myself out of a purchase for a few reasons. First is they excluded 10 and 12mm for whatever reason, second is the ratcheting box ends are thick. 2mm thicker than Snap-On in most cases which themselves are quite beefy.

Hate to burst a bubble but those Saltus wrenches are made by Kabo Taiwan, not in Germany. The brass retaining screw in the side of the ratcheting end is their trade mark.

Thanks for that Skin, but now I'm feeling well and truly ripped off!

Marking the things 'Solingen Germany' has got to be deceitful, if not illegal, if the things are not made there!

Don't know what the legal position is in Germany, but in the U.K. this would definitely be an offence!

Vidar also made a valid comment, and I should have been suspicious when the markings were laser etched, when on their other wrenches it's forged in!

Don't recall the exact sum but they were not a lot of money (which should also have made me suspicious)! I'm sure I could have got Taiwanese wrenches cheaper though!

Thing is, it's not always about the money! I'm quite prepared to pay a bit more money to get tools made in Germany, or the U.S.A. or Japan, or anywhere that pretty much guarantees me a decent tool!

I have not, as yet, put these Saltus wrenches to serious use (they live in my 'emergency bag in my car) but I'm now doubting the things! I'll probably leave them where they are, but I'll acquire some decent ones when I can!

Kabo wrenches are actually excellent. They manufacture products for many brands including Professional ones. Keep in mind the modern ratcheting wrench was born in Taiwan. Keep them, use them.
