Looking to sell my Morgan Milwaukee large vise on stand. 8" wide jaws. The vise has a swivel base and weight 210lb without base. Base adds about 150lb. (not factory) In nice shape not too many marks or cuts jaws are good. If interested please make offer. If low balling please include your address so I know where I can find you. Thanks Danny

Thrum: you are coming up with some big vises all over the US lately. nice work. the yellow one you showed us was bigger than this one. i'd bet the farm that vise's jaws are not 10 inches wide. my 6 inch 150 pounders next to those smaller 4 & 5 inchers look huge and probably rightfully so.

keep looking and you'll find a big one. what is the biggest vise you own or that you've seen in person?

Well I recieved my first broken vise from ebay today, needless to say Im pissed. Has anyone else had to deal with this? Any advise?

I always request they be shipped fastened to lumber to protect the ears. I seen that Dayton on ebay and it was in good shape. That's a shame. It was a nice find and a good price.

Drivesit: well, i'll post a picture of some of mine once the latest one arrives tonight or tomorrow.

The 10" listing has been edited to include the link... The yellow Bulldog link will go up too because the logistics chain is too long and nasty in winter to get it to Canada! :(

Can anyone identify this vise? The jaws are 4 1/2 ". The guy says that it says "Patented 1887" and might also have a month and date up "in the front near the screw". Note the 45 degree angle that you would have to cut into the front of the bench to mount this thing.

Dtep: it's a Parker and maybe somebody else that collects them can give you more information. that 45 degree mounting is unusual, but that's normal for some Parker vises.

These Wilton C2's are not all that heavy.

My build is almost done, visit my thread if you want to see the step by step to my C2 vise and stand.

Didn't realize they made plastic ones, mine's cast iron.

Alan: you are very strong and i do like that texture you put on your Wilton C2.

Dtep: you have to ask? go buy it if it doesn't have any breaks, cracks or welds or missing parts. then take many more pictures and maybe the parker guys will be jealous.

:) Thanks drivesitfar! I'm going to check it out tomorrow. The strange thing about it is that the guy said that there are no markings to identify who made it. I found one model 200 Parker vise through Google and it had the standard "Charles Parker..." cast into it. The size and weights were about the same, but did they not cast their name in them for a while?

Yes it was really nice, not one scratch or dent. I'm still mad about it but whats done is done. The seller did contact me and we're trying to get it straight. Ive never shipped one myself but I always said I would bolt it to wood like you said.

Check to see if it says "Parker" on the collar on the front that retains the main screw. As to the angled piece on the base, common for early vises, the idea was to cut a matching notch in the bench to "key" the 2 together.
Good luck, Jim

Dtep, Almost every Vise manufacturer made unmarked Vises for the relabel market. a paper label and a Parker becomes "Joes Hardware Special"

It may take a bit to map it to it's Parker Model No.

But hopefully you aren't reading this you are in transit getting that sucker!

The 45 was a gusset for the jaw support, and was common until about the time "modern" swivel vises came on the scene. (the early swivel vises used a center stud though the bench, and a big wing nut...)

Spent some time cleaning up the big Sevo this evening, I may paint it up at some point but for now I wanted it clean and lubed so it wouldn't be rusting any more and also so it was ready to be used. I also took the slight twist out of the handle that seems to have been caused by hammering the vice to tighten it.

Still have to make the handles for the cams .......

Nice Record 634, they don't seem particularly common here in the UK, I did see one on ebay the other day but it was ended early.....

One of the Parkers I've used in the past had the angled support underneath and I needed to cut a notch to mount it. I taped off the top, bottom and side lines with painter's tape and then started notching it out with a circular saw. Took a while but it worked great. This was a terrific vise and I thought I would be keeping this forever but an even better Parker came along so I made the switch. Every day is a Honeymoon with a Parker vise!

Of course instead of notching the bench, I have built a notched plate to mount between the vise and bench for my parker No. 2 . 5/4 hard wood works great for this and looks great if you spend some time on it with a router . Just have to watch your work height. Sorry no pics of this install

Thanks, He sent me pictures. Smaller throat than that prentiss, and jaws aren't as high. $40 takes it home, looks pretty good shape.

I picked up this vise recently for $60.00 at a school district auction. It needs some work and was modified at some point but I found a guy who says he can fix it. Anyone have any idea on the brand?

I will remove it and see if there are any markings on the bottom or something. I mounted it because I needed to do some work but I want to restore it if it is worth it.

 seems weird that the they would mark that specification so predominantly. But thanks for the info.

Most of the asian vises are marked like this. Also for all you newbies out there, chrome ANYTHING on a vise is a clear indicator of import. as I like to say when shopping vises "if it got chrome it don't come home".

I've attached a pic of MY first vise purchase, a Luddel and also an import. We live and learn, but this board has taught me a lot so long as we listen to them.

Good hunting!:bounce:

I found this in PA this week and bought it just by this photo for $100! I figure how can I go wrong? Bench and vise started life together in a PA steel plant. I don't know for sure but I'm willing to bet the vise is a Columbian 204 1/2.

I wont be out there for a couple weeks, can't wait! This was on CL for over 30 days before I snatched it up. Waiting for a pic of the vise from the seller but I paid him already anyway.
