Since this summer I will finnaly have time to work on my bikes, and have a decent shop to do it in, and seeing all the great tool finds, I decided to start replacing tools which I had stolen a few years back (mostly proto )

So this week I have gotten:
1/2 Proto Rachet - Grainger, new closeout for 8.00
1/4 Proto Racket - Grainger, new closeout for 6.50

Set of Proto 500 combo metric wrenches 8-19mm for 25.00
Set of Proto Pro SAE 1/4 - 9/16 - 20.00
2 Older Craftman fine tooth 3/8 rachets 10.00
SK 72 tooth 3/8 rachet, brand new - 15.00
box of mixed SAE sockets - mostly old craftsman but 2 proto's and 1 1/2 plumb socket - 5.00
Proto 6 and 8 inch adjustable wrench - 12.00
Mixed box of misc 3/8 extenstions - Craftsman and Bonney - 5.00

Always had mixed sets of tools - but they all get the job done

Gonna buy a digital camera next! Got most of the stuff from Ebay - but from local places that i could go pick up - only had to pay shipping on one of the proto rachets.

Proto is my favorite. Most of my mechanics hand tools are Proto. I'd say you got a deal with those prices.

Unfortunately Grainger will no longer sell to me as an individiual since I'm not a business. Used to be able to buy under my employers account, and Grainger would sell to me individually as well, but no longer.

Seems a lot of large companies used proto's.. places I have been getting them are liquidators who cleared out large facrotries in the area (northern IN).. Plus because everyone knows Mac and SO from all the tool trucks - seems Proto dosn't get as much lovin off of ebay..

Granger - I just put my office adress and company name down - did a will call for the local one. Guys at my local store are cool - have bought a lot of stuff from them. The rachet from Grainger was a 5449Pg and I was off on price - it was 11.12 and the 1/4 inch was 7.344749Pg The big dawg is a 3/8 I bought off a local guy.

Have you tried recently? They gave me the same story back in the fall. When they heard I was spending about $300, they decided to make a 'one time' exception. They have done it twice since. Everyone is hurting. They need the business. In some regards as supplier to the construction trade they are hurting more than others. Give em a call
