Im looking to buy a portable torch setup; i know nothing about them. I would like a full size setup but i don't have the space and would really prefer something portable so i can take with me on the go. What brands should i look at and what should i avoid?

Stay with the name brands like Victor, Smith or Harris. Bear in mind that the 20' O2 and 10' Acetylene will not last long, especially if you use a cutting torch.

when you say not long is it roughly more or less than an hour? Are there tanks slightly bigger than the 20 and 10 sizes or does it go directly to the full size tanks? Im wondering if i should buy the torch setup and then look for midsize tanks maybe? Like i said I've never had an oxy setup so I'm trying to figure out what way to go.

With a 20' O2, if you set the O2 to 20 it will last an hour, and so on.

You could get 40-60 O2 and a similar size Acetylene, and buy a mid size torch set, but the weight goes up. With the smaller set you want a smaller torch.

You're going to use numerous tankfuls of gas just learning how to use your torch to cut properly.. Buy the biggest tanks you can handle.

I know how to cut with it but I'm not using it primarily to cut I'm using it to heat metal up and braze. I already have two large tanks for my tig and don't want more taking up space plus I would like to take with me and a large outfit will not be too portable for me.

I'm gunna have to compare prices on buying tanks separately and buying a complete portable kit. If anything I can get an extra set of tanks? But then it's just getting more expensive...lol
