Oh yes! The whole idea was to get the jet boat out of a storage unit so I could quit paying for it. After doing some very complicated math using my fingers I could have rented that unit long after I am gone and still not have a positive ROI on that basis.

The ROI for me is in the big grin I get whenever I pull up to my new shop!

I love the canyon, It is just to far away for me, to be making a habit out of going there! We do enjoy the South Fork of the Snake. It can be a bit skinny in places for big boats, but it is a great place to be!

I'd really like to know what this ended up costing you once you have an idea. I like your approach, interestingly where I'm at the pole barn (metal side) seems to win and I may not be far from you (Boise). I don't like them as much as stick built, but I'm curious how the economics of this worked out.

We built the walls. I asked around and a lot of guys were unhappy with the quality of the prebuilt walls coming from the local supplier.

Cost wise doing most of the work with my brother & uncle I am under the bid I got for a pole barn shell with a concrete floor, but then again I wasn't tracking all the beer I had to buy to get it done!

I knew I wanted to finish the inside and wanted it to match the aesthetic of the home I will someday build so stick built was really the only way to go for me.

Got the mezzanine framed up & floored

Can't decide if I should put in some windows that look down into the main shop area or not. Also had to move the doorway over a little bit to be able to get a full size door tucked under the trusses after going with 9 foot ceilings in the office & bathroom area.

Very nice! We ride down your way every summer so I will keep an eye on the build and hope to see it in person this summer... I like the second floor and would probably put in a few windows overlooking the shop just to maintain the openess and airy feeling!

Updates have been slow lately as alot of the work is not really picture worthy.

Ran approx 3000' of wire, cat 5, 14 gauge speaker wire, rg6, & 100 feet of 1 1/4" black pipe for power, networking, tunes and cable internet + gas for the Navien Combi Boiler I wanted for my in floor heating & domestic hot water.

We got some paint up though!

Had the stone guy over for a dry stack on a wet day!

And got a few of the giant lights my wife loved hung outside!

We got the doors from the local Wayne Dalton shop. They were very helpful & actually the best priced compared to the two others.

It is stick built. I couldn't find a good SIP supplier around here but I am glad we went this route. EVERYTHING is absolutely square & the building inspector actually asked if we could build everything around town. Maybe its because it was mostly my brother, uncle & friends helping me, the pressure to do things quick instead of the right way went away.

Yeah, its pretty interesting. The drywall guy came by & told them not to overfill them as its a real pain for him to get his sheetrock on if they do.
