I have gained a lot info from this site, so I thought I'd post my shop building experience.

I'm on 10 acres and wanted the biggest shop I could afford. The whole property is on a slope, so there are some limitations there. I finally decided on a 50x90 slab and roof with a 50x70x16 enclosed shop.

I had a local company build the slab and structure. I hired a guy to do the dirt work, and another guy for the wiring. I'm still waiting on the power company to run their line.

My next step is to backfill the dirt, get electric hooked up, and buy a lift (leaning towards Benpak XPR-10A-168) due to plenty of width and height space.

The building is 26 Ga. with insulation, I beam free span truss, 16 ft walls, gutters, skylights, insulated garage doors 10x10 & 12x12 with openers. I was impressed with the way it turned out.

I wanted to build it mainly for building classic cars and room to grow for future interests. I also wanted to have room for a small living area for the eventual rebuild of the house.

Wow, that's a nice shop.
Is that Christine hiding down there?

Good eye. It's a '57 Plymouth Savoy 4 dr sedan junkyard parts car. It's waiting to donate parts to my '57 Savoy 2 dr hardtop. However it won't be a Christine clone. It'll be closer to the Al Sheib '57 Fury.

Looks great, lots of space. What kind of projects are going on for you in there?

My first 2 projects for the new shop are a '57 Plymouth and a '70 Charger. Those will most likely take several years. Who knows after that.

I've been following your build, It's just about perfect! I was aiming towards a 50x100, but it would require too much dirt work.

Thanks! I am looking forward to seeing your build! We were lucky that our home site was as flat as it is. Definitely not a level lot!

OKDart, I live in central OK also, if you don't mind me asking who built your building. Looks like it might be the same contractor that built mine out of Blanchard.

That is AWESOME looking, the roof space inside and the covered part on the end (with the doors that open in front/side will give plenty of air!

Looks GREAT!

Only problem I have is I wish I had of built it a little bigger. Richard has built several buildings for me and overall they did a good job. He is a good guy and easy to work with.
