Posted a random Facom tool pic on ToolGuyd earlier (http://toolguyd.com/random-facom-tool-photo-tool-talk-1/), and wanted to share the same image here - it's the third one, of the open end of a quick action combo wrench.

And while I'm at it, here are two more pics - one from my previous review of their angled socket wrenches (http://toolguyd.com/facom-angled-socket-wrench-review/), and another from a pending review of their newish combo wrenches.

I really like Facom tools. These designs are deviations from traditional norms, and for the better. My only frustration is that they don't make all wrench styles in inch sizes, and that some of their portable tool sets are also metric-only.

The 40R speed wrenches used to be made in fractional sizes. I'm not sure when Facom discontinued them, but I think it was after Stanley purchased them. Some other items were discontinued as well around the same time, like the larger sizes of the slimline tappet wrenches, so maybe there's still hope the fractional sizes of the 40R might be revived at some point.

The offset on the socket end is larger than on a regular combo wrench so you can reach deeper fasteners than you would otherwise e able to with the box end on most combo wrenches. The wrenches also have a round body that is very comfortable to grip, and there is also a deep socket of the same size on the opposite end that allows you to reach really deep fasteners, similar to the way a long L hex wrench can be used with both ends.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like it would work well on projects with threaded rod.

I'm too poor (or cheap) for facom. It is what it is. I can at least appreciate that they do things a bit differently than most tool companies which I definitely approve of if it works. Appears to be the case.

Yes. It'll be more like a hands-on overview though. I use them every so often, but still don't have a strong opinion about them one way or another.

They're smaller and a little more comfortable for quick jobs. They're also low profile, and the hollow socket accommodates long bolts and threaded rod.

I bought one size, ended up using it a lot, and then added a couple more.

The advantage on the socket is no movement being one piece, before they had individual sockets I believe that is the way old tools were made like that.

The deep offset allows them yo be used kindof like a socket and ratchet to acess resessed bolts. The open back allows them to be used with threaded rod or studs. They come in handy. I only have two sizes 10mm & 12mm i wanna atleast get 13,14,15,17,18,19,&21 to round off the set. I don't use them often but they can help things along when they are needed. They are not really a "must have" tool but they are handy. Im also a wrench guy i use wrenches alot so i like them.

I got a 13mm version of the open ended ratcheting spanner, it works well in the right situation once you have got used to it.

Not sure how much you can afford but there are a few things from them that are cheap on Ebay.

I have none of their stuff yet, but will definitely be picking something up from them soon. Maybe a ratchet or something.

As for the "Ratcheting open end" wrenches in the OP, I've mostly heard bad things about that style. Maybe we should start a poll for people who have used that style of wrench asking them if they like it.
