While digging hole found a new Bentley.

I can give this to Robert as down payment on helping me fix cab. That and a Airplane ticket to warmer weather?

Can you add metal to the door edge to match the b pillar?

I had that thought too. If I add metal on door to match below body line I do not think it will look right.

So as long as I can get fit right from body line and below, yes I will add as needed to curved portion of door.

Hi.

A few builds to start with for me. The first is a garage. Will start in the spring.

Then the fun can begin! I have two 1964 Morris Minis, one a cooper which is a restoration job. The other is highly tuned, and is purely a fun car. But both will require a lot of body work. Probably with some much new metal going in they will be new body shells.

After that my wife really fancies a ford pick up truck. But they are very expensive on this side of the pond.

I d love to have. Your project. It is so cool. And when you get to the end, I m sure you lol have a lot of. People asking to buy it.

Probably not what you want to hear but I think a slight roof chop could be a good solution.

Too bad I'm about 8,000 miles from Phoenix. Would love to stop by to lend a hand and learn a bit about fab and metal work from you.

Before you push it into the hole, maybe it's time to take a break? When I used to have a bunch of cars that's what I did. Came back to the sticking point with more energy, fresh perspective, etc. Maybe the 427 truck needs some attention? I like the EcoBoost, but I'm more excited to see the 427 truck coming to life.

Turn the hole into an oil change pit. I'd bet $ thousands of us are lurking and excited to see continued progress, even if it is slow progress. I could stand a trip to 69 degree weather to assist in holding some clamps or something... maybe I could fetch bologna sandwiches or pbj if it is your flavor.

I think if you could put a few Bostonians up in the motorhome for a week you could get some takes as working guests. Sort of a dude ranch for trucks. Anything to get away from the snow mountains.

No time now for xplainin'

The dig a ditch and bury it was obviously a joke. Although there have been times it has crossed my mind. Its a standing joke around this place, "Just bury it" is a common term around here when things do not go right.

Lets just say the door gap is now a non issue: I welded the door shut! Now I have to crawl thru window or go to other side.

Gotta keep busy . . More later

Welded door "shut" so I could make use of the Automatic Gapping tool found on
Nozama.

With a bit of roughin' in Door now have a consistent 3.5mm gap or .1375"

A gap to me that just seems right.

The fender is just hanging there but has perfect gap except for top to cowl. Fender just needs to go up a bit.

Pics for now:

WOW! I can understand what you mean when you say you just want to bury it. My project is nowhere near the magnitude of yours and I have felt that frustration many times now. I just joined GJ and am eagerly awaiting your next posts! VERY nice work!!! I would LOVE to have any number of the cars you have had over the years! Keep it up!

I think he needs/deserves a break. Think of it like a tv show that has gone back to production and you won't be seeing any new episodes for awhile. If you need your timewarp fix, go back and reread old threads.

I'm good with not seeing updates, as much as I want to, I understand his health needs to come first.

I do however hope everything is ok, I know it's been a battle, and I just wish the best for you TimeWarp

TW, hope you're doing well.

Still around . .

The Valley Fever/antibiotics killed the Immune system.
Another few weeks lost.

Kind of piddled a bit in between but just started back on eco late yesterday.
Have not touched it in a while.

Not so sure the April 1st to get it driving is going to happen anymore but started to plug away again.

Still trying to figure out how to hang the front clip and core support.

I did manage to get the Eco hood latch assy to work on the '66 Hood by making a new striker piece for hood. Includes both release and safety catch.

Goal for this week is getting the front clip mounted.

Back a few weeks ago my oldest daughter who bought my '66 Ranger hit a curb on way to work at 4:30 in the morning with fogged up windows. Nothing serious just tweaked a spindle and I-Beam. I ended up buying it back from her and just borrowed the chassis parts from The Eco '66 Chassis to put on Ranger. I am now using it as my daily driver until the '66 Eco is ready.

Now all I have is 4 '66 Pickup's and for a bit over a week none of them were driveable! Had to bum rides or borrow cars . . LOL

Update pics when I get a bit further along . Just too many irons in the fire to get much done.

Also in middle of the 418 FE Engine build. Like typical it started out with a cheap engine to drop in place of the light blue '66 while I fixed a few oil leaks on the 352. I have no clue why but now the 418 FE has snowballed into this HUGE project I did not need right now. Plan was to drop it in the blue '66 for just a couple weeks then sell it. Now BURIED in it . .

This was the shortest version update I could do. :lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Glad to hear you're on the mend.

What's a 418? Is that a .060 390 with a 428 crank? Curious to hear more about it.

Scott

.040 390 with a 428 crank 4.090 x 3.98

I was given a .030 390 that had a fresh rebuild but the 360 style pistons were .120 in the hole. I then picked up a freshly turned crank for 100.00 from a friend for the project.

This would have given me a .020 piston to deck.

Problem was the piston to wall clearance was a bit much for what I wanted
and I wanted to final hone with deck plate. I like a good ring seal . . ha

So decided to go .040 and buy new pistons. About this time found the c8-h heads had sunken valves. BBM Alum heads were on sale . . . It snowballed from there.

These are the BBM heads. With just a valve job the flow 299 cfm @ .600 on intake and a amazing 220 cfm @ .600 on exhaust side. Pretty good for out of the box heads for a engine that was designed in the mid to late 50's.

This will be a Zero Deck height 9.86 Compression engine. I am coming up with a near perfect DCR of 8.06
Quench of .041

A few head pics.

Another curve to the getting eco running by April 1st now another 3 weeks of nothing gettiing done.

4 pm monday My oldest daughter sends me a text . .

Will you have time sometime this week/weekend to paint my Bronco?

I told her I need to have my Eco running by April 1st and really do not have the time .

This is a Bronco (1986) that has been sitting for 15yrs although when she picked it up for free a couple years ago she did rebuild the entire fuel system got it going (46k original miles) But sitting in the AZ sun for so long has really messed it up.

Again, anyone who paints knows how long a full job takes, my '66 482 project I started in 2008, Eco started in 2012 and she wants hers done in a week?

She does not have her own veh now that I bought Ranger back,

She WON! She buys all materials (1250.00 so far) And she will also do most of work as in tearing it apart. Prepping, sanding etc. Color change too of course!

Jeesh, wish I could get my own stuff painted in less than 5 years per veh. A week, Are you kidding me?

Because paint was so thin I was able to steam clean most of it off leaving the original baked on primer for a good base. (steaming off paint was actually done when she rebuilt the fuel system)

A few pics this morning as we started teardown last night. The hood and roof had major surface rust as paint was gone from the AZ sun. Appears prior owner had done some sanding on hood.

At this point over last couple weeks it was just getting it on road. New tires etc others were so thin you could see the air in them . . HA

I will only work on it when she shows up after her full day at the Hospital with her getting up at 4 am for work. Will see how this goes . .

As the bronco sits this morning . . . .Just started last evening

The hood has a couple "tweaks" and I really do not want to pull it and try to make it perfect. Its wednesday and it has to be done by saturday? The hood and roof, topper will get flat black. Rest will be PPG Concept DCC 9300.

Also needs Emissions done.
So how nice can we make it starting to work part time today and Thursday then working late night on Friday and all day saturday? With 1250.00 + in materials do not want them to go to waste so its got to be decent.

If one reads on news a guy in Arizona found with his brain exploded on its own for unknown reason just call it overload . .

Hello Chip Foose, Ya busy this week?

Scott

I built a very mild 416 FE for this nice original truck a few years ago.
Stock heads with good valve job, performer 390 and a very mild cam.

It made 250 RWHP & 350 RWTQ. Goal is to add a 100 to each of those

Edit Add: After posting I realized my daughter who owns the Bronco is in pic.
She will be 20 in a few months. Where does the time go?

Edit, This week's weather. Rest of area is warmer we are at a bit higher elevation.

A minor Eco Update:

Late Model F150 hood latch now works on '66 Hood. I know the catch is a weird shape but what It had to be to work. Its made of 5/16 cold rolled steel. Tacked in place for now.

I still have full adjustment along with adjustment of the hood latch.

Sounds like the monster wants out!

Be careful about offering up air plane tickets. I saw that and started checking my work schedule. It's been a long winter up here.

Very tempting. The boss thinks she has other projects I should finish first...
Although I do think it would be very cool to go help others work on their projects.
