What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Pulled all the drawers and slides from the Snap On KR657 I just picked up. I had to drill out every last screw holding the drawers on then had to drill out every rivet holding the slides in, what a pain in the A$$. Ran the slides through the parts washer to clean off 25 years of crud and see if there were any that were salvageable... Nope.. called Snappy, they're sending me all new slides. Now I need to sand and prep for paint.

Were they ball bearing?

Finished sanding the North wall with 60 grit. Also started screwing the backsplash onto the workbench. Only put in a couple screws to keep it in place, was getting late and didn't want to annoy the neighbors with the impact.

Since snow piles have finally melted enough to get at my poor F150 (sitting all winter snowed in) I thought to pull it out and park in front of garage to start the long awaited brake line replacement. Dead battery,ugggghhhhh!!!. So the battery is on the charger now to see if it can be saved.

fixed the drooping hose real and relocated it to the center of the garage. also cleaned up the line for the maxjax.

also finally got a drill press.

Finished installing the "Power Distribution" block on my welding cart. Now the power for my Millermatic 211 DVI and my Hypertherm 380 can just be plugged into the block and I only need to run one power cable from the wall!

I added a quick connector to the Hypertherm's air inlet so I don't have to fight with getting between the plasma and the C25 tank wall to attach the air line.

Also gave an old set of 6 Bose speakers, an old 10" JBL powered sub and an old Sony A/V receiver to a friend to free up space in the garage. Now I need to sell my Millermatic 175 "suitcase" welder and my Millermatic 210 "rolling" welder to make room for my TIG...

Restored a Sheldon Thread Dial - was a bit rusty. Top of the dial was hopelessly pitted. Here's the dial assembly before:



And this is the dial itself after facing, being re-scribed.


The body of the assembly is completely rust free and will get a nice coat of Rustoleum Smoke Gray. Bits for restamping the numbers are on order.

Two Front hub bearing assemblies replaced in 3 hours with no real struggles to mention. Now the HHR is quiet again!
Dealer cost to repair $750-$1000. DIY cost to repair $325.00 no labour added because I did it myself.

I like the art. You could consider painting the raised lettering to stand out. I bought one just like that this past winter but have not hung it up yet.

Cleaned up and sanded a old craftsman 5 drawer base cabinet and gave it a brush and roll paint job with rustoleum hammered black drawer fronts and insides and safety red cabinet. It will work nice next to the south bend

Added a few more wire clamps to the lighting circuit and screwed the outlets in tight. Hoping to get the Final City Inspection in the next week or so. Also did a general clean up moved the battery charger to the next vehicle in turn. Need to start the work bench next.

I've been busy the last couple days...
Yesterday I swapped out my JL 250/1 for my 500/1 to drive the JL CP108 a bit better. I then ran all of the wiring to install a Punch 400a4 I had laying around to boost my mids & highs. Got all of that done and was installing a set of Pioneer 6x8's in the back doors because I had them for another project and never used them. Hooked them up and they sounded like ****... At that point, it was 1am so I called it a night.
Today, went to Best Buy, picked up a set of JBL 2 way, 6x8's for the back doors because I"m very happy with the JBL 6x8 components up front. Hooked them up, tuned my amps a bit and put the back of my truck together. I got a new Sirius unit for the Kenwood in dash and hooked that all up.
Next I put a tint strip across my windshield. All of the other windows were done when I bought the truck and it just bugged me that it didn't have a strip.
Took a 10 minute break to come in and throw a pork **** on the smoker, then back to the garage.
I then decided it was a good time to swap out my '08 F-150 Emblems for the newer style. I pulled all of them, cleaned off the adhesive, polished out the areas and installed the new emblems. Just came in and say down after a pretty productive weekend.

Started of just doing a little cleaning and organizing then I started looking at the drip pan under the Puma and I couldn't stand seeing the oil dripping of the motor. My original plan was to remove the fan shroud to check the oil cooler seals but once I realized I couldn't get it out do to some binding issues I decided to pull the motor. Well being that it is a two jack project with out a lift I had to make an emergency trip to Harbor Freight to pick up an extra floor jack so I got a nice aluminium jack.

It's a thirty year old Brazilian VW motor dip stick. What do you think the chances of getting an OEM replacement will be.

Also picked up some insulation to put it on the single bay side. There's some older foil-faced insulation in some spots, but it's pretty ratty.

been home off the road for 2 weeks been making some garage furniture.first is this reading light.base is a cast iron wheel from a company that closed in 1882. the light switch is a water valve gutted out with a craftsman wrench to turn it on and off.the light is from a really old studebacker

Pulled the Hoopty out, pulled the Hoopty in. Swept the floors, screwed around on the computer, and got the snowblower off of the JD, and put the JD into the shed. Got the patio tables out of the house garage and back outside, plus dug the chair out of the shed to get back out. It was about 50 and sunny today, and tomorrow is supposed to be 70 and sunny.

Tomorrow is phone call day to try and find a competent contractor that doesn't want to **** a person on the price of a garage addition!!!!
